Crazy Facebook Drama (cops, judges, court dates, status updates)

So my cousin got a speeding ticket not too long ago... the day it happened he posted about it on facebook and I think referred to the cop as a fat pig or something like that.

This week he went to court for it, and they had a print out of his comment. The comment wasn't incriminating to the case, but the cop and judge reprimanded him and were mad. Just typical southern law enforcement intimidation...

I know it's his pic, and name, but how can they prove it is him and do that? They didn't do anything legal to him over it, just wanted to scare him. He is pretty freaked out too. lol

He has like 800+ friends so I think there's a cop on his list too, or someone that pointed his comment out to one. Has anyone experienced or heard about anything like this???

Vick! 04-27-2011 01:05 PM

And I thought we had freedom of expression. lol

Cop and judge were sure fat pigs.

Some law enforcement departments use Facebook specifically to track down the location and to obtain information of wanted criminals.

writing stuff on Facebook is like writing it on a billboard by the highway.... If you don't want people to see it, don't post it.

.

cherrylula 04-27-2011 01:11 PM

Yeah well this is the deep south... I hit him with the link to the local watchdog group, he probably won't do anything. It's crazy the way the cops and judges down here do whatever they want. People either don't care and say people get what they deserve or they are too ignorant to stand up and do anything about it.

I don't think he cared who saw, but it had no relevance to the court case. They want to stifle his freedom of speech. You know, our consititional right...

Yeah I read about this. Like idiots bragging about robbing banks and things. That makes sense.

But a 22 year old mouthing off about a cop... they actually print this out and put it in his face with no real legal reason to do so? I wouldn't let it slide...

Oh, you're absolutely right. I would demand the court record of the judges statements regarding the printed post and make a big deal of it.... Send the story to national news outlets, etc..

What I love about the Judges now days is when they give their Opinion.. which they are NOT supposed to have when it comes to law.

He should have said in open court after making sure he was on the record that the cop was a fat pig...it's not like he can get in trouble for it and he should have reprimanded the judge right back. Not sure why people treat the cops and judges as cops, if ever the only time you have to be outspoken without fearing people sneakily screwing you over is in court.

Yeah, do that. :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

Not sure where you're from but where I live there's this thing called Contempt of Court. The judge can have you locked up for wearing a t-shirt he/she doesn't like. Calling a police officer a fat pig and then reprimanding the judge would have only gotten him about 30 days in jail with no bond. And when he got out...yep, he would have to go back in front of the same judge. The reason why people treat judges with respect is because they're the only people that wield the power to throw your ass in jail for as long as they want just because they want to. It's never a good idea to piss off a judge, unless it's Judge Judy. :1orglaugh

cherrylula 04-27-2011 01:36 PM

yeah the cops (and judges) are out of control down here... I have stories I won't even post because some will not believe me... lol

What's the big deal. Like you said they didn't do anything to him other than bitch at him for doing it. What did he do? He bitched about the cop for giving him a ticket. So he bitched, they bitched at him back. They probably told him to grow the fuck up. If you don't like the south then move back to the land of fruits, nuts, and weed heads.

blah blah blah.... they not trying to stiffle anything. They were just pointing out how much of douche he was acting. They didn't fine him, charge him etc. It was just words they said back to him. The same thing he did, post words. If he can criticism a cop for being a "fat pig" why can't the cop or judge criticism him for acting like an immature child?

It;s funny with you liberal nut jobs, it's ok for you to run your mouth about everyone else, but if one person says anything back to you then you get all up in arms about "personal liberties" and rights. Who the fuck are you to tell a cop or judge what they can and can't say to people, to express their own opinion. How ironic you bitching, thinking that someone is trying to suppress someone else's right to free speach by trying to say what other people can and can't say LMAO.

Why would you want to go playing with a hornets nets over something so stupid.

The cop/judge has a right to call someone an idiot just as much as the idiot had a right to call someone a fat pig. Freedom of speech goes both ways. If you want to start fucking with the police then you going to get the attention of the bad ones and you going to be sorry.

By "demand", I meant in the form of a subpeona... Obviously you don't walk around in county clerks offices saying "I demand!" anything. :-)

I totally agree with this point of view, BTW. I would just want to have fun with the judge and move the game to a bigger arena, by taking the court recordings public. I tend to be self-destructive that way in the interest of gamesmanship.

And I'm sure your Louisiana conservative friends and family would love your involvement in porn. Does your church know?

More hypocrites than liberals, that's for sure.

Best thing about Louisiana, most people from here stay here and are afraid of the dragons in the West! :1orglaugh

Thanks ladies, yeah all is good. My worst problem is missing my home in Cali, but that's about it. :)

Why 04-29-2011 10:24 AM

i know myspace and facebook were once giving out "law enforecement" accounts that allowed them to look at any "private" profiles and photos on the site.

kind of fucked up, but once you put it on the internet is becomes public information, nothing is secure on these wires.

Speaking of law enforcement accounts... here's something even more shocking; The CIA and FBI are creating fake accounts on social media websites so they can "shape" public opinion on questionable government practices, policies, etc. to fit their agenda.

Guess what they also do? They create profiles with hot chicks so you'll add them, and give them access to your Facebook wall, etc. Debt collection companies use similar tactics as well.

Pretty hilarious, isn't it? Just make sure you NEVER add anyone you don't know on Facebook.

Wrong!! try again. I am not conservative, and right wing republican idiots piss me off just as much as you liberal nut jobs. I also have nothing to do with religion and could give a shit what those brain washed morons think. I don't have to join a club and have other people think for me and tell me how to act unlike 95% of you.

I agree with that statement. The only reason I made the liberal nut job comment was because I was responding to one. Don't assume that because I don't like liberals that I am a republican or conservative. I think both parties have good and bad points. It's the people who go hard core either way and think they are 100% right in everything... they are the brain washed idiots that just get hand feed what to think. No party is 100% right. I am about down the middle as they come.
