Guys update your pop under scripts!!!

With IE9 and FF4 out there right now the current on click pop UNDER scripts everyone is using are popping OVER. This just pisses people off, increases bounce and....

Causes sales to drop.

If you are seeing a drop since end of March this is a big reason why.

:pimp

Thats for sure pop OVERS suck when you are surfing.

lagcam 04-27-2011 08:49 PM

At least a popover you can see and close immediately.

How many times do people close a window when someone walks in and not notice that their screen is now showing the popunder that they didn't notice popping under?

All annoying to me.

marlboroack 04-27-2011 08:55 PM

Yeah, fuck em.

Jakez 04-27-2011 08:58 PM

Yeah I noticed this also, in Chrome too, is there still a way to popunder?

AmeliaG 04-28-2011 08:58 AM

It's more a courtesy tip to affiliates than bitching about popunders. So no, not problem solved. Livejasmin for example buy millions upon millions of uniques per day in the form of popunders, but every site they have it on is their old code and its causing to pop over which is directly affecting peoples traffic.

I have been using DHTML popups on several sites in the past few months, they pop up within the site mimicking a browser window, they seem to work quite well and don't seem to affect bounce.

TheSenator 04-28-2011 12:40 PM

$tandaman 04-28-2011 01:24 PM

Is that like an ajax or jquery popup? Hard to believe it doesn't affect the bounce..

Adding window.focus(); after your normal javascript popunder code seems to help in IE but not Firefox or Chrome.

Can popup blockers detect and block hidden DIVs? They're part of your site code, they go visible to "pop" then hidden when you close them...

(Can't do popunders with this trick, of course...)

not any default ones

Has anyone figured out an alternative method that will continue to pop under in the new browsers yet?

I tried DHTML pop ins and and off but find them to be too intrusive so I much prefer the pop under.
