Fucking apple treating workes like slaves

Apple factory workers make less than $300 a month and get treated like slaves.

As recently as 2004 Apple had manufacturing in Sacramento CA.

All I can say is if the workers in China can't afford to buy corporate products, and the people in the consumer countries have fewer manufacturing jobs than before, who the fuck is gonna buy this stuff.

■ Excessive overtime is routine, despite a legal limit of 36 hours a month. One payslip, seen by the Observer, indicated that the worker had performed 98 hours of overtime in a month.

■ Workers attempting to meet the huge demand for the first iPad were sometimes pressured to take only one day off in 13.

■ In some factories badly performing workers are required to be publicly humiliated in front of colleagues.

■ Crowded workers' dormitories can sleep up to 24 and are subject to strict rules. One worker told the NGO investigators that he was forced to sign a "confession letter" after illicitly using a hairdryer. In the letter he wrote: "It is my fault. I will never blow my hair inside my room. I have done something wrong. I will never do it again."

This is why US stocks soar but the country is suffering from high unemployment/underemployment. Wonder what the margin is on a $4,000 mac-pro?

Yep yep.
Lots of companies posting profits, are doing so with lots of layoffs, and current workers have to pick up the slack in fear of losing your job.

L-Pink 04-30-2011 06:28 PM

American consumers demand a pollution free environment, high wages and benefits for workers ..... yet purchase based only on price. Who cares what happens in other countries.

Hypocritical ill informed and ignorant consumers are getting what they deserve. And dragging the few that understand what is happening down with them.

INever 04-30-2011 06:32 PM

I saw this the other day about a factory that makes jeans. Man, people in China are being treated like shit and the only ones profiting are just a few there and here.

EVERYONE is so dumb. I was on the set of a major motion picture set last night with a 14 million dollar budget in what is supposed to be a 1950s nightclub scene with lots of cigar and cigarette smoking and no one had thought to bring real lighters.

So no one could light up on screen during the action (ie; men lighting womes's cigarettes, etc).

Proves that peeps with money are just as ignorant as peeps without, and they did not think thru the implications of driving down wages until no one can afford to buy. Or maybe they did. :Oh crap

well, I live in China and people that work in those factories CHOOSE to work there. ..

nobody forces them to work there.. I dont think those factory jobs are really that good or that working circumstances are great .. but you have to remember the western media likes to overhype things .. .. .

the pay is not really that bad for an unexperienced young person .. 2000RMB / 308USD a month is a normal wage

How interesting, I envy your exposure to other cultures. Are they working in the factories from lack of other opportunities ..... are they from rural areas?

I think most of them indeed come from rural areas and dont have many other oppurtunities where they originally live .. but I think many of them only do this kind of factory job for a couple of years untill they find something better / pays more

Riiight...

Fifteen year old country girls CHOOSE to sew pants and make clock radios 18 hours a day, give up any chance of an education, and risk missing all holidays with their families for a few hundred dollars a month - which they MIGHT actually get if they don't fuck anything up.

Sorry, you're living in a country that should have been bombed flat when America still had the chance.

If you really live in China you shouldn't even be visiting GFY. You love your shithole commie country so much, but you have no problem posting here or viewing pornography.

What a fucking joke you are. Why don't you go make me a shirt and shut the fuck up?

When US consumers demand certain standards from domestic businesses but not from foreign countries it smacks of racism more than I can stand.

Is "racism" the correct term?

I admit that I used that word for lack of a better one. What I'm trying to say is Americans have stringent pollution laws and minimum standards for working conditions and pay for anything made in the US. But don't give a damn about the environment or welfare of foreign workers.

Basically we don't care about foreign conditions or people.

.

why should you care ? it is not your responsibility ,.. I think you only should be worried/ care if the people that work to manufacture the products you enjoy are there because of free will...

and I would want to stress again .. I am pretty sure the western media likes to overhype the working conditions at those "apple" factories .. :thumbsup

Pretty much the same as on a 4k dell.

1 day off in 13? In other words, 2 days off in 14 or 1 day a week. Seems pretty standard for a lot of blue collar jobs.

Agent 488 05-01-2011 09:04 AM

bullshit. everyone knows Chinese factory workers have it good and are treated like gold.
