Your right, most (99%) absolutely dont get it. I too have a project that is and will remain in China. The #1 problem was identifying chinese designers that are qualified in providing both creativity and functionality.

Maybe one from all of the spam I get from "Chinese webmasters"...but, i doubt you'd want those e-mails...
