I'm the furthest thing from a conspiracy theory kook but why in the world would you bury the world's most heinous fugitive from justice at sea so fast? The fucking president of the United States not even allowed to see the body in person?

absolutely NO way now to confirm it was really Osama bin Laden - I'm sure there is video, but that does nothing to confirm anything.

The decision has been made to respect Muslim tradition in burying the body of the most wanted man on earth. A senior administration official tells ABC News, "We are ensuring it is handled in accordance with Islamic practice and tradition. It's something we take seriously and therefore it's being handled in an appropriate manner.‬"

Islamic law dictates that the body be bathed three times in a specific, ritualistic manner, while covered by a cloth. The bathers are generally same-gender family members of the deceased, though this clearly will not be the case for the body in question.

After bathing, the body is wrapped in a kafan - generally a white cotton cloth, to protect the modesty of the deceased. Prayers are then said to request forgiveness for the dead.

Burial customs vary by region, but it is tradition for the body to be buried the same day as death. In this case, Bin Laden's body is expected to be buried by 4 p.m. on Monday afternoon, before sundown.

Traditionally the body is buried in the ground without a casket, with a grave marker that does not rise more than 12 inches above the ground. However, U.S. officials say that Bin Laden is expected to be buried at sea to prevent his gravesite becoming a shrine and to discourage vandalism and grave desecration.

As Bin Laden was a citizen of Saudi Arabia, the Saudis will be offered the opportunity to take custody of the body. They may not accept it.

[UPDATE]: CNN reports as of 3:20 am EST that Bin Laden's body has already been buried at sea. While surprising for most Americans, this adheres to Islamic tradition as the body has been buried within 24 hours of death

Apparently something to do with his religion / buried within 24 hours, or some such thing.

Conspiracy theories are usually about negative events. For the most part, people are happy with the official story here. I doubt the conspiracy theories will reach mainstream acceptance like others have.

When people like the official outcome, there are much fewer conspiracy theories.

Can you imagine if Bin Laden prepared a video to be shown in the event of his death, basically saying: "News of my death has been greatly exaggerated, blah blah..."

im extremely skeptic about any big political event like this news. I really dont believe anything anymore whats being said by government and media. And this story just sounds silly as hell.

The US is in 3 wars now, and the argument at the beginning was: Bin Laden on 9/11. The connection between iraq and him still doesnt make any fucking sense but back then people just wanted revenge for 9/11 and hey, lets invade a country which has nothing to do with him but has lots of oil as 'revenge'.
1000's of soldiers and civilians are dead.
10 years later Osama is chilling in a mansion near the fucking capitol of Pakistan, and they couldnt find him earlier? A compact team swiftly assasinates him.... so whats with those huge wars, 1000's of dead people, and this complete global economic destruction? What was that good for? It all seems so extremely useless.
