I am confused.

Don't you own Lightspeed? If so why a funny internet radio player?

Don't you have like 2 or 3 Ferrari's to drive or something?
I could think of a million different things to do with my time than some funny internet radio thing.

Seth Manson 05-03-2011 07:56 PM

play Living Dead Girl again! I love that one.

I work 12-14 hours a day on Lightspeed stuff. But I'm a gadget guy too, I like to experiment with tech stuff too. Streaming audio just happens to be my latest interest. When I get this working, I'll be on to something else. :thumbsup

A workaholic.

i think the firefox fix should have fixed ie8 also

Boozer 05-03-2011 08:41 PM

First off it "works" in FF. This is probably more of a bug then anything but in FF if you drag the timeline all the way to the right and then try and hit play it doesnt work

Boozer 05-03-2011 08:45 PM

IE 8 works now

Now it doesnt work. About every 5-6th attempt get "loaded file is not a valid media"

I'm working with someone on something in the same field...

If you need music, Steve, let me know. I have a TON of it. 260+ gigs of it.

marlboroack 05-04-2011 03:08 AM

That's pretty cool Steve, tomorrow I'm going to upload a picture of crabs on my dick. Stay tuned for the most epic GFY post of all time.

iamtam 05-04-2011 05:44 AM

I'm in process of editing 115 new scenes right now (including never before seen Jordan Capri and Tawnee Stone content) Thanks for asking. :thumbsup

Jack Sparrow 05-04-2011 05:56 AM

Did you pay the rights to stream those tracks?

Yeah, as a matter of fact, I do. Its actually pretty inexpensive, like 1 penny per song per play.

Do you really care, or just trying to start shit?

Really? I thought the law changed in 2009 so you had to pay a percentage of revenue you generated?

CaptainHowdy 05-04-2011 06:32 AM

Fortunately it doesn't work ...

To be fair it probably did ten years ago when people were interested in such things.

SteveLightspeed 05-04-2011 06:43 AM

DamianJ, am I somehow BOTHERING you?

Seriously, just because you don't agree with some of my business policies, you resort to acting like a child every time you see me post? I've heard people speak highly of you. You should try to live up to their image of you. :2 cents:

Not at all, love. Why do you think that? I am interested in you saying you pay per play when the law changed in 2009 saying you pay as a %. Not bothered at all, merely interested.

How is asking about a change in law for paying money for streaming music childish?

Excellent, I had a copy of the old licensing scheme. I haven't played with internet radio since 2004. Thanks for pointing this out. Now I won't have to pay anything, since it doesn't MAKE anything. :1orglaugh

Here is everything you might want to know about royalties on streaming audio:

Well, of course... I am using Shoutcast too. Centovacast is the Auto DJ software so I don't have to run a stream from my local network. I just upload the mp3s to ftp and setup the playlist (though I am using a random playlist).

Fuck Steve, so you've been paying someone for each song you've played on Lightspped Radio?

Who were you paying? They've ripped you off massively!

Ah, as you can see, I'm still learning. I am running everything from one of my servers at Natnet, just using the "sc_trans" program that came with the shoutcast software. Does your software generate the playlist xml for you? I've been editing it all by hand. I haven't found a good solution for that yet. I also want to find a script to update a "now playing" song title with AJAX every time the song changes.

I started webcasting LAST WEEK (this is a resurrected project from 2004). When my accountant and lawyer decide exactly WHO to pay and WHEN, I'll sign the check. :thumbsup

Until then, I don't think anyone is going to lose any sleep over a hobby site with less than a few listeners per day, do you?

Yeah CentovaCast does that automatically (playlist generation). They just released a new version (3.0) that I haven't had time to play with yet. As you can see on my site it automatically updates the "now playing" and also shows a history of what was played. The new version has even better widgets http://forums.centova.com/index.php?topic=453.0

Oh right. My bad. I got confused.

Just after you were offered 260 gig of (I am sure totally legal) music, someone said:

"
Did you pay the rights to stream those tracks?
"

and you replied

"Yeah, as a matter of fact, I do."

But, as a matter of fact, you actually don't.

So that's that cleared up. Thanks. I'd hate to see you paying money to someone that you don't need to pay.

Honestly, 12-14 hours a day on light speed? doing what?? Obviously its not on site design since that hasn't change in years. You said you were sitting on a couple new sites that were already built but you don't want to launch them. Doesn't sound like you have many customers or affiliates so couldn't be much time spent on doing customer service / aff support.

Not being an asshole, but when you say you spending 12-14 hours a day on lightspeed, just curious what you are doing with it. Have something big you working on ? Or spending all of that time trying to find new talent ??

Nevermind I see you spending all of that time to take 5-10 year old content and make it HD. Question answered. So now the content thieves can see Tawnee stone in HD :(

SteveLightspeed 05-04-2011 01:32 PM

Will, I really don't feel any need to explain anything I do to you. Let's turn the tables here. What have you EVER done? Seems to me you spend all your time worrying about what everyone else is doing and posting bullshit on gfy. Seriously, get a fucking life!
