August Internext in South Beach?
 

After last years turn out and the new January show format I assumed the usual Westin Diplomat show would be cancelled. However a couple months ago in AVN they had a full page ad for Internext 2011, August in South Beach.

Anyone have any news on this?

And I believe this year has already been hotter than many in the past.

I've attended the last five years and really haven't minded the heat/humidity. Definitely sticky but not like I'm wearing a suit. Just throw on the beach duds and you're good to go. :thumbsup

Chris (former AVN salesperson) posted today saying that it wasn't happening. That's the only thing I've heard whether it's a go or not.

I'll go if it's paid for. I'll bring an attraction of some sort that will boost visitors. I'm seriuos about that.

We're not that far away from August. I was assuming also that it was probably a no go but would appreciate an official word.

I haven't gotten in two years because the show had gotten so low in attendance and the prices hadn't dropped. I remember paying $30 for a shot of Patron silver in the hotel, jeez.

I loved that hotel as did most. I'm pretty sure that's what made August Internext last as long as it did.

but yeah, i always enjoyed that show but it only makes sense when enough people show up

They've had Internext in South Fla for several years now...and the distance from Hollywood to South Beach is about 25 miles...I doubt there'll be a significant difference in the weather...LOL!

The year before last was the last time I went. It was pretty sparse then and from what I'm sure we all gathered from those who did make it out last time around last year was even worse.

Anyone remember when it was hard to get a room? I remember one year stayed at the hard rock and commuted. It's wild how it spiralled down from there. :(

I'm just a fan of westins (SPG yo!) and loved the convenience of an FL show being an FL gal myself, but man, no doubt the hotel was gouging the shit out of us. It seemed like the prices got higher as the years went on as well. Last time I went I ordered a mojito and they came back with some kind of purple stuff, and I'm ure I dropped over $10 on whatever the hell they made me too.

I can confirm that the Miami show will not take place this year. I know its kind of sad, was the first event I went when I joined the industry, but times have been changing and didnt make sense anymore for many reasons...

Too many shows offering the same thing and we felt that we have to adapt and dont keep beating an almost dead horse anymore.

We always try to listen what the industry is looking for and next week we will announce something different and try to deliver a new experience for the ones attending.

We did it in Vegas and (our mistakes aside), the new format went amazing with over 1.900 registered attendees. We work hard to make something special in Amsterdam as well, so I am really positive that the summer events in US, will adress the needs of many people and companies from our community.

i loved the hotel as well, will never forget going down in the pool just after we arrived and looking a mountain of daiquiris and naked women swimming around...I was one week in the adult business, never regretted it since lol

Still there is no way the industry could fill 1k rooms anymore, as the hotel was asking. Wish also it was different but shows have to be more business oriented now for good and for worse. I like to see it the positive way :)

Makes me sad. That hotel was awesome. I took for granted it was right on the beach with balconies overlooking the ocean.

That was a great hotel, but they took advantage of us pretty badly. Beautiful views, though. And with all the various ballrooms, it suited our purpose very well. I skipped last year's show, as I can see many other people did. Sad to call it the end of an era, but times they are a changin'.

Thanks for the update. Like I said I assumed that you wouldn't be having the show at The Diplomat anymore but the ad said South Beach. So I figured maybe it was moving to a smaller venue/boutique hotel in Miami instead. Was this the original plan and then scrapped?

That really sucks that there won't be another one this year. Internext was my first "big" show back in 03 or 04 and I loved it. The contacts, the business, the PARTIES, the Hotel, the service, and the NEW FRIENDS we made each year, and the OLD FRIENDS we saw each year. The organizers really made my whole company feel welcome, and to me, Internext Flordia was THE business show.

I will always remember:

- LIT playing poolside.
- 3AM BEERS at the Pool
- Our Yacht Party and the coast guard intrusion!
- The Miami Mansion party with Alien Ant Farm
- "My big fat greek dinner" party

And so many more.

I enjoyed that cruise the year I went as well.
Im kind of ashamed of getting drunk and throwing those Cybererotica stress relievers at the guys that were picketing the show the first year. Thats one of my memories of the first one.

I guess that show effects all of us at some point.

MojoHost wants Internext in South Beach...!
 

I hope that Internext is in South Beach. Without argument, the Westin Diplomat was an excellent venue (albeit horribly over-priced) but it has not been properly sized to the attending crowd in years. South Beach is an excellent location with a ton of smaller, boutique hotels. It is also 10 minutes from the most amazing data center in all of the SE United States, the Terremark NAP of the American in downtown Miami.. Home to 1500+ MojoHost servers :)

If Internext comes to South Beach, MojoHost will pull out all of the stops to share an amazing education with tours of its facilities and (now) uncommonly far-reaching hospitality with its attendees.
