Possible Delay in Availability of .xxx Domains??

This domaining link seems like it might possibly contain impactful info concerning Europe's request for a delay in sales of .xxx?

http://domainincite.com/europe-did-a...-to-delay-xxx/

slapass 05-06-2011 04:23 PM

I doubt anyone will bother to buy one so it is a non issue.

baddog 05-06-2011 04:24 PM

That would be pretty funny. The writer needs to learn punctuation and grammar though. That was a tough read.

ThatOtherGuy - BANNED FOR LIFE 05-06-2011 04:25 PM

Now that is interesting. The arguement about the GAC being against really went to deaf ears, and that was quite unusual for ICANN to proceed with approval.

Fingers Crossed.
If the EU puts a stick in the spokes I will never make fun of Europeans again:) I promis.

That is just being ignorant if you truly believe that.

MediaGuy 05-06-2011 04:44 PM

That's awesome and I hope has the intended impact.

I was hoping this would come back and bite them in the ass, because when I learned about the GAC I figured the whole thing would take another couple years before ICANN ruled. But when the GAC part of the process was quietly by-passed and .xxx suddenly passed, I figured backbenching and palm-greasing had come to the fore and protocol taken the hindmost.

That would be sweet but you're really sticking your head in the sand if you really believe it.

:D

DWB 05-06-2011 05:56 PM

I hope it flops and everyone who has ran to them trying to cash in falls on their busted broke ass.

It would be fitting.

Buuuuuuut, you can't flunk you out porn so they would be welcomed back into the industry and offered new jobs. Whole thing would be blown over in two weeks or less.

Delay, delay, delay???????????

Due 05-07-2011 09:31 AM

That's interesting.

How will the .xxx registry deal with the mandatory face to face age verification required by law in Germany ? Anyone know ? With xxx there is no reason not to do it on a registry level

I wonder what the Euro response to the initial response to their objection has icm thinking/planning/doing.

Chosen 05-07-2011 01:47 PM

Okay then.

u-Bob 05-07-2011 05:08 PM

I wonder what's behind that.... when Kroes is involved, there's alway a double agenda...

MrCain 05-07-2011 05:11 PM

Dot-xxx domains are useless anyway.

Rochard 05-07-2011 05:36 PM

I hope the Euro zone has intentions of blocking XXX. That would be a stunning defeat for Joan. How is she gonna make money if XXX is blocked by all of Europe?

VicD 05-07-2011 05:47 PM

good old ave cummigns please stay out of grammar and just fuck

alias 05-07-2011 05:47 PM

Perhaps ICANN is doubling back and using the GAC angle as a cover, this dodges the ICM lawsuit threatened, keeps the payoffs [if any] and basically just burns ICM.

ICANN certainly flexed their muscles by ignoring GAC.

Herd 05-08-2011 02:59 PM

Put the ICANN members that voted yes to .XXX in the public view, on their reasons for telling the GAC and USA to "fuck off, were going to do our own thing".

After that, get rid of ICANN since they dont listen to anybody, except the ones greasing the backs of their hands.

Good idea.

davecummings 05-08-2011 05:56 PM

I hope there will be a formal and very extensive DOJ investigation into every aspect of .xxx from the very beginning til now, especially how stakeholders were screwed in spite of so many of them/us speaking out against .xxx. I wonder if any laws were violated and, if so, whether prosecutions might ensue??

Comments?

Wouldn't it be nice if such an investigation also recommended castration of .xxx and immediate activation of .kids!

czarina 05-08-2011 05:58 PM

Nahh. this is a stumbling block that will only cost them a few million more.

This is prime time for bribes and thats all its about.

Well wouldn't that make sense?

Its been over a decade dealing with this garbage with govt's and administrations always blocking the creation of .XXX, and all of a sudden ICANN says yes? How did this happen when the entire world said NO!

ICM has been taking the heat (rightfully so) for their .XXX disease greenlight, but in the end ICANN was responsible for the domains decision. Yet ICANN has been flying under the radar without rebutal. Hopefully that will not continue much longer.

alias 05-08-2011 06:50 PM

I wonder which of these ICANN board members supported the passing of the .xxx stld:

Peter Dengate Thrush
Steve Crocker
Sebastien Bachollet
Rod Beckstrom
Cherine Chalaby
Bertrand de la Chapelle
Heather Dryden
Rita Rodin Johnston
Erika Mann
Ram Mohan
Thomas Narten
Gonzalo Navarro
Raymond A. Plzak
Rajasekhar Ramaraj
George Sadowsky
Reinhard Scholl
Mike Silber
Bruce Tonkin
Katim Touray
Suzanne Woolf
Kuo-Wei Wu

http://www.icann.org/en/general/board.html

Now some of them are essentially "porn stars", public figures in the world of xxx porn.

davecummings 05-09-2011 07:17 AM

How can we get this fiasco investigated?

Good question! I have no idea how this should be accomplished, but they should all be investigated.

Hopefully more countries will ban the .XXX tld :thumbsup

Brujah 05-09-2011 08:10 AM

I'll wait until it's covered on Pimps Promos and read it there.

Mefo 05-09-2011 08:47 AM

The good thing with Kroes is that as soon as she puts her teeth into something she won't let go quickly....

Herd 05-09-2011 11:03 AM

voted yes
Peter Dengate Thrush
Steve Crocker
Rita Rodin Johnston
Erika Mann
Raymond A. Plzak
Bertrand de la Chapelle
Gonzalo Navarro
Mike Silber
Rajasekhar Ramaraj

voted no
George Sadowsky
Katim Touray
Kuo-Wei Wu

didnt even vote
Rod Beckstrom
Sebastien Bachollet
Cherine Chalaby
Bruce Tonkin

Connor 05-09-2011 11:36 AM

I spoke to the board right before they approved it. Reminded them they had no community support and that they KNEW they didn't. Still, look at all those "yes" votes. This is how people lose complete faith in boards/organizations like ICANN and come to know that they're there to look after the interests of the money people, nobody else.

iamtam 05-09-2011 01:04 PM

european union likely to move to block .xxx outright. end of issue.

All the more reason for an investigation.

With pornography being the most controversial, looked downed upon, thin line of legality business, and for ICANN to give full blown legitimacy to only one company is absurd.

The 9 members that voted yes, cannot be allowed to walk off into the sunset saying "the pressure will go away". Well, its not going to go away.

Confront those members publicly because they hate that shit, when their reputation's are exposed to the masses.

Hopefully, Gac will start speaking up more since ICANN made it official now, that the Gac's opinion is garbage to them, that "we dont need them, we dont want them".

I'm pulling for GAC/Europe to prevail!!

Alprazolam 05-11-2011 08:15 AM

EU won't mess around with them. They have to be running out of bribe money by now.

Hotrocket 05-11-2011 08:35 AM

Death to .xxx

davecummings 05-11-2011 09:01 AM

Look at what one retailer plans to charge (from yesterday's Ynot Newsletter).

Thought ICM's "buy money" was in the stock piles.

Cause if there having troubling negotiating the best price with EU members, how are they going to afford Democratic Senators? Cause those guys dont work for cheap.
