The sunrise is northern California. The rest are from the Valley of Fire.

This reminds me of year 11 English class where the teacher Sheila, that was her name was explaining the "phallic metaphor of the rocks increasing erectness" :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

Looking great, what camera did you use?

I was looking to buy a new cam for family use mostly, vacations and stuff. What device do you photographers recommend for this?

Found this Sony HX9 that looks pretty good imo, but i'm no expert.

Canon 40D Stock 18-55 lens.

You wont get all the options I have with the point n shoot that you posted. But you can get some nice shots regardless. The camera I have is a couple steps above "family cam". If you want a good mix between the two look up the Canon Rebel Series. Theres a few Price/User friendly models with the Rebels.

Thanks for the input. Basically i'm looking for the best quality pics and Full HD videos i can get with a point and shoot cam. I just want to turn the cam on and take the pictures or have it record video. I don't want to change lens or anything like that, nor change tons of settings to take a photo.

What do you think of the Sony HX9 i posted above? Anything else you would recommend?

Deej 05-07-2011 03:12 PM

no experience with it myself. however I bought a canon for my mother once that was 250 bucks and it was the equivalent but for canon. It was 12 MP and took HD video. My camera dosnt take video. As far as the sony goes. If it says it does what you want m sure it will cover your needs.

mavruda 05-07-2011 03:32 PM

Bump for the good photos man - if they were on high rez I could use some as wallpaper.
I just sit here and watch for the world only through the monitor of my machine...
that sucks. But your photos are just great.

The pictures are beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

This is a little less than the 40d but still takes really good pics, its basically just an 8mp instead of a 10. It would be cheaper and better than the sony in my opinion. Great to start with.

Here is a review of the 20d:
http://www.the-digital-picture.com/R...ra-Review.aspx

click on the sample images to see some examples. The lens will have a lot to do with how well the images turn out, as well as post and learning how to use it etc (auto modes will do fine as you learn XD).

I bought my first dslr from here, a 40d which i still use, came in excellent shape and you can buy a 1 yr warranty on it for 40 bucks.

Best of luck

Nice pics btw deej, i really like the first one.

oh duh! I actually seen a quality spot to restage that incident. A sick crevasse with a decent sized boulder perched between the wedge...

I would love to know the technical details behind this photo:

Camera? Lens? Apeture? ISO? Shutter speed?

Stunning photo! Very well done.

Way too technical for me. I'll stick with my point and shoot.

Nice shots.
