.XXX scumbaggery begins with choosing offshore rinky dink registrar in Germany as it's registrar

interesting how none of the big registrars are involved. scary as a domain consumer to give your CC info to just anyone on the internet. i guess if you want to control the money you have to control the registrar. no way moniker or go daddy or any of the credible registrars would let them play any games.

why else would you want a small, nobody registrar that no one knows?

Key-Systems Appointed as .XXX Registrar

Leesburg, VA-- Key-Systems, a German based domain registrar with offices in the US and Mexico, has been appointed as one of the first .XXX registrars worldwide.

Initially in March 2011, the Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) authorized .XXX as a sponsored top-level domain and its operation by ICM Registry. The .XXX launch will start late summer and is divided into three phases: a Sunrise, a Landrush and the final General Availability.

Key-Systems is already offering pre-registration for all launch phases on its three domain portals. These are domaindiscount24.com for end customers, RRPproxy.net for resellers, and BrandShelter.com for trademark owners. Brand owners from outside the Sponsored Community will have the opportunity to block names at the .XXX registry (ICM Registry), so that they cannot be used as conventional web addresses.

?We are delighted that Key Systems met our accreditation criteria, we consider them an important partner for us in the European marketplace,? said Russell S. King, COO of ICM Registry.

Key-Systems? CEO Alexander Siffrin added: ?It?s great to be part of the .XXX introduction. .XXX is a real multi-purpose domain extension: Not only the customers and providers of adult entertainment sites may benefit, but also those who prefer to avoid them.?

The .XXX Sunrise with the two tracks A & B will start late summer 2011. Track A is for members of the Sponsored Community with either trademark rights and/or prospective rights through pre-owned strings in other TLDs. Sunrise B aims at brand owners outside the Sponsored Community, who may reserve names and therefore opt their brands and IP out of the .XXX zone.

.XXX aims to protect consumers of adult entertainment sites from viruses, identity theft, credit card fraud and inadvertent exposure to child abuse images. At the same time the sTLD provides the opportunity to easily filter out unwanted .XXX material and attaches registrants to a set of practices to provide effective self-regulation of the adult industry. Furthermore, online adult entertainment providers receive more predictable revenue streams, greater customer retention and fewer complaints, as regulators and others will see their proactive and responsible approach to their web presence.

About Key-Systems
Key-Systems GmbH located in St. Ingbert, Germany, was founded by Alexander Siffrin in 1998. The company has grown from an academic sideline to a successful international ICANN accredited registrar for internet addresses. Areas such as a fully automated reseller-system and web hosting completed the success story. Today with more than 3 million domains under its management, the company has reached a leading market position, selling domain names, web hosting and DNS services to customers all over the world. The latest product BrandShelter.com offers companies and institutions special services related to domain administration including services to get their own top-level domain (TLD) as this opportunity unfolds in the near future. Key-Systems is operating subsidiaries in the USA and Mexico.

face to face age verification, no free hc content - that would also apply to any .xxx porn site run by a german company

actually chances are pretty good Germany might block .xxx as well since most sites on there will not comply with german laws. that would be fun

lazycash 05-09-2011 12:31 PM

I wouldn't call them a "rinky dink" registrar, but a curious selection none the less. I'm sure this has been said before, but I found this part interesting, ".XXX aims to protect consumers of adult entertainment sites from viruses, identity theft, credit card fraud" Has anyone from .xxx spelled out exactly how they plan to protect consumers from credit card fraud happening on their extension?

they said they are creating their own processing solution.

their end game is to get every adult site pushed on to xxx and every adult transaction through them.

Isn't that like sacrilegious or something?

A company joining .XXX cause their sick of the piracy is the very same registrar for the pirates themselves.

There goes another one of ICM's sales pitch's down the toilet.

Damn, worse than I thought, wonder if ICANN was aware of their long term intentions when they approved .xxx.

Yes. There's a handful of registrars announced now with more to follow.

Alprazolam 05-11-2011 08:18 AM

the prices will come down. the nature of competition will force that.
i would bet netsol goes out somewhere near 120.00 a domain.

Dirty Dane 05-11-2011 09:12 AM

From dd24:

Sunrise Track B (Blocking):
378.15 EUR / 450.00 EUR incl. VAT one-time fee per domain

Facebook and everyone else "outside community" are forced to pay to get .xxx trademark names blocked from usage. That's their business :pimp
