Americans will start moving out of the US

I've heard some countries are going to be running ads in the US to get wealthy Americans to completely move, even offering deals like instant citizenship, no taxes, and interest free loans for their business.

Sounds to good to be true so it probably isn't.

AdPatron 05-09-2011 09:04 PM

It's true, I heard it from an ad agency on madison ave.... they already started on the ads.

"For the 400 U.S. taxpayers with the highest adjusted gross income, the effective federal income tax rate?what they actually pay?fell from almost 30 percent in 1995 to just under 17 percent in 2007, according to the IRS. And for the approximately 1.4 million people who make up the top 1 percent of taxpayers, the effective federal income tax rate dropped from 29 percent to 23 percent in 2008. It may seem too fantastic to be true, but the top 400 end up paying a lower rate than the next 1,399,600 or so."

you cant get your money out of the US/EU for zero and rich people aren't going to close down their companies or relocate them to 3rd world countries just to skip paying taxes.

they may have an incentive to move their residence, but taxes aren't one of them. most expats don't pay local taxes, and most rich guys can live wherever the hell they want. they move around so much that Visas are a non-issue.

this deal would be more suited to middle class retirees, so that Florida and Arizona don't get all those pension checks. go tell Madison Ave.

.

AdPatron 05-09-2011 09:49 PM

Yes you can, and very easily.

Who said 3rd world countries?

I didn't just say taxes.

People started moving out in 2008-2009. But there is still time for the rest of us. Just not much time.

my tax rate is around 18%
my partner has been at 15-16% for years

The US actually has investor visas with 10,000 yearly quota for anyone who plunks down $1mil+ but immigration gives out only around 500 yearly and denies the rest, go figure.

The problem is many universities have been poaching away quite a bit of students away from the US who would have paid out-of-state tuition rates, which is how many colleges and universities can afford their programs. Now countries are going after the rich, should be interesting to see how that plays out. Although many rich are already settled in Monaco...

Robbie 05-09-2011 10:48 PM

Lot of company owners have already moved to other countries. I hear Panama is an awesome place to live for an American with a little bit of money.

mynameisjim 05-09-2011 11:02 PM

America is better than ever for the wealthy. Not sure what the incentive would be to move elsewhere, at least from a financial point of view.

A wealthy American can buy a huge mansion in the hottest part of the country for half the price it was just a few years ago.

Bill8 05-09-2011 11:41 PM

I hope they fuckin leave.

they ain't doing anything useful here, and if they are gone, it just opens up space for somebody less useless.

It would be difficult to live there, you can't even send your kid to school without having them injected with neurotoxic metals

It's only a problem to the sane.

Kooky Marxist revolutionaries such as Obama will greet the exodus with glee since it moves our country one step close to the cliff.

SleazyDream 05-10-2011 12:46 AM

you mean there's anyone left in the US these days?

Emil 05-10-2011 01:38 AM

It's a big business. The wealthy Americans will relocate to other countries now when the dollar falls to save themselves.

Markul 05-10-2011 01:40 AM

Funny. I was thinking that if the socialists came back into power here in Denmark, that I'd move to the US.

Fuck we have taxes here that's well over 60% already.

Where do I sign up?

The women here are spoiled (even the unattractive ones) in other parts of the world the actually appreciate men and treat them well. I have a wealthy friends that left the U.S about 5 or 6 years ago and told me then if you have any money get it out now. Hi lives in Europe like a king surrounded by beautiful women the last I heard.

We are on the verge of a police state of you believe the rumors and if you don't we are still living in a country that is trying to take most of our freedoms away and suppresses
natural cures that would help people while approving toxic chemicals, pollution, etc...

Some countries have offered an instant citizenship for an 'investment' in their government. Belize used to do this. The program was halted shortly after 9/11 due to pressure from the US government's anti-terrorist policies. Almost no countries offer this anymore.

TheDoc 05-10-2011 04:16 AM

What other Country has all the goodies a rich American needs to maintain the life style they built up and pay zero or low taxes?

I know you can pay your way into Canada, but tax wise they aren't very friendly.

You would have to give up your citizenship to pay almost no tax...

IllTestYourGirls 05-10-2011 04:42 AM

I forgot another tax, the inflation tax. But that normally only hurts the middle class and poor. Which makes you wonder why the Obama administration is trying to convince the Chinese to help weaken the dollar.

Would I? No.

As an American if you earn an income, you pay taxes on it no mater what. It doesn't make a difference where you live or what you do. The only way out of this is to give up your citizenship.

The wealthy can already do this. With enough money, and it's not even that much money, you can pretty much gain citizenship in most countries, even the United States. It's pretty simple, countries want money and they want to know that they won't need to spend money on you.

wig 05-10-2011 05:38 AM

You can qualify for the Foreign Earned Income Credit, which in 2010 you pay no taxes on $91,500.

Wow they raised it.. was only 80k.

candyflip 05-10-2011 05:44 AM

My girlfriend and I have been discussing this quite a bit lately. Mostly because we live in NY, which has the highest property tax in the country...and we're in one of the counties that get's hit the hardest. We pay just under $1000 a month for property tax. At this point, we would be happy to just get out of state.

Something like this from a country like Belize or Costa Rica would have me seriously considering a move south.

wig 05-10-2011 05:46 AM

It goes up every year. Must be tied to inflation because it only went up $100 2009>2010
