most barns would protect those cards from the elements. the car pictured in your link is sitting in a field with moisture bugs and all sorts of fun stuff |
I had a buddy a few years ago that was a tow truck driver and got a call from this old lady who wanted him to haul off a old car from her garage and was willing to pay him. He got there and it was a 1959 Corvette Convertible... When he saw it, he gave her $500 instead of charging her and flipped it for $25k in 2days... :pimp

In Canada, the laws work so that if a car is abandoned and has not had the VIN registered in 30 years, it's able to be claimed by the first person to take it. Had a buddy who found an incredible 1970 Dodge Challenger TA in an old garage and when he called to find out what the laws were that was what he was told. He claimed it and it's in the process of being fully restored.. it was in pretty good shape when he found it. Talk about a find, but you never know when something will be worthwhile :)

My favorite " Barn " story is the one where someone bought some property that included a huge barn that was locked shut. It was bought without looking inside and even the realtor didn't know what was inside. They cut the locks off, threw open the door and the new owner found himself with about a hundred vintage autos. Some were rare and very collectable.
I'm sure someone can find the pics that are floating around :winkwink: |

But after reading the article it seems it's just an urban myth and not a barn find. It appears to be a 70s car dealer that just kept all the cool cars that came through his dealership and stored them in his barn and when it got full he just locked the doors shut. He still owns the barn and the cars and had a photographer go in and take some pics. Too bad because it was a cool myth. Just imagine if he had some Ferraris. |
