4D Cinema anyone?
Went somewhere today where they had a short film showing in a 4D cinema.
Was expecting it to be utter bollocks but the actual effect was amazing :thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup Like 3D but as well as the glasses converting a mess on the screen to something other than a flat image there was also the appearance of stuff actually being out in the room and at one point there was a bubble that appeared to be floating in front of me close enough to touch. Bubble pops - a few drops of water are sprayed at you giving the impression that it was actually real. |
I like to induce vomit with a toothbrush, it's much cheaper ...

3D in the cinema just pissed me off. After a few mins i just wanted to get rid of the damn glasses and just watch the movie as normal...

looks pretty neat.
ive heard of a few theaters putting speakers under seats to get vibrations, but not as far as spraying you with a garden hose while watching the movie |
is that like quadrophonic stereos from the 70s ?
|
Shit is getting ridiculous. Just sounds like too many moving parts to break down in the middle of the movie.
|
they offered something like that right next to the london eye. Its kinda cool but i dont think it will ever be a real movie theater experience.

Seen Terminator 4D in Universal Studio, was great.

Was more like a few droplets - just enough to make what you were seeing seem real. There was vibrations and things sprayed and also air blowing at you that helped with a moving sensation. I don't actually think I could manage to watch anything in 4D that was the full length of a normal film. It did sort of fuck my eyes/head up for a bit but the overall effect really impressed me. |

If so, I was the guy walking out after it had just stared, holding a sobbing 6 year old, and making apologies :) |
Spraying water you say, what does that translate to for porn 4D. Sounds sticky.
|
The Borg in 4D used to do something just like that at The Star Trek experience in Las Vegas. Live actors on stage interacting with the 3D visuals and then also tactile effects like things in the seat poking you in the back and water spraying on you.
The Bug's Life ride at Disney's California adventure does it as well, and also has smells. And Soaring Over California puts you in a hang glider prop and you 'fly' over 3d scenery and can smell the ocean and orange groves. |
We've had one since 1992. Gimmick.
|
Saw 4d movie in baltimore, it pissed me off after 20 mins of being sprayed in the face, poked in the back and smacked in the legs. Literally all those things happened and since it was a nature show with whales and snakes you can see why the kept poking and smacking. Very annoying maybe fun for a thriller if you get poked once but not every few mins.
