general economy sucks... I dont know about USA but here in Europe... EURO has killed all of us...

I go to restaurants, the movies and stores, and they're always packed. There is no real recession for those businesses. Mainstream brick and mortar industries are booming, while adult is sinking!

Restaurants and bars by me are not as busy on weeknights as they used to be. Travel is def down. People haven't stopped going out to eat but a lot have cut out vacations.

And yes I'm aware Netflix doesn't show porn. It shows media most people value more highly than porn and are still only charging $8 a month for it.

Pretty much. Times change. 20 years ago you could sell a 80 minute VHS tape with 5 porn scenes for $30( $50 in today's money ). Try doing that today. Content just doesn't have the same value it used to. That's just the reality. People either can accept it to not but it's still the truth.

I have to admit the past several weeks have been exceptionally brutal for me. I have always maintained a pretty consistent ratio over the years but these days they are all over the place.

Well progam owners just can't afford to pay affiliates $35 a sale and charge a price that surfers will be willing to pay. In the near future the affiliate model will go away. Site owners will have to pimp their own shit so they can save the cost of paying affiliates.

Look at mainsteam affilate programs. Affiliates are lucky if they get 15% on a sale and it's closer to 5%-8%. And let's face it no one will be an affiliate of a porn site that is only going to pay then 15% on a $10 monthly sale.

This is not necessarily true. A site is worth whatever it is worth to the guy holding his cock in his hand and wanting to cum.

It's only not worth it to those looking for a bargain.

The affiliate model is dying, no doubt about that. And porn as we know it will be dead. But porn will not die. It's just thinning out.

When 99.9% of people going to a site say "thanks, but no thanks" I'd say that's a CLEAR indication that a site is overpriced. Keep thinking you can make big bucks selling $30-$40 monthly memberships.

Well, maybe 99.9% of people who are visiting generic porn sites. But I wouldn't know, that's not the market I am in. I would probably be out of business if I was.

I sell memberships for $29.95. No complaints. Decent ratios and rebills. Of course I have my up and down sales swings, and some sites do better than others, but I have unique content that people will pay for IF that is what they are looking for. Not everyone can make money pushing my sites, that's a given, but those who do well, do very well.

I've also tested different price points and they have not made a difference for what I sell. And I still test different price points from time to time just to make sure I'm doing the right thing.

Will it all change in 6 months from now? Maybe. But today I can sell my sites for $29.95.

I would accept $10 PPS if the ratios were 3x better. If a ratio went from 1:1000 to 1:300 you would make more money on $10 PPS.
