I buy fresh roasted coffee in studio city... much better than coffee roasted 1000 lbs at a time, vacuum packed that sits in a warehouse or on a self for 6 months.

you might wanna give it a thought??? and another this is you can taste the difference region to region and between the various beans. the mass roasted coffee it is over roasted to hide the stale taste.

been dealing with these people for over 10 years... very nice and great coffee
http://www.thecoffeeroaster.net/cart/catalog/

i also use a french press and burr grinder for really great tase. really the only way to go is a with a burr grinder... the little bullshit grinders are really choppers and do not grind the bean at all:

complete bullshit

i'm with ya on the burr grinder, i have a commercial grade burr grinder for my mainstream gig eh, i've done the french press, it is good, when every thing is perfect- water temp, timing, grind, etc. + i've had those things blow up on me more than once when they got stuck and i stubbornly push harder.

i've got a pretty good machine i go with.

PT's Coffee is my coffee place. Yes, they are local to me, but besides the coffee shop, they are also at the Farmer's Market which is a few blocks away.

They have amazing coffees and they also do mail-order.

Speaking of coffee: Last night I purchased the Cuisinart SS700 single serve brew system (using K Cups). I managed to get through the set-up procedures, but have yet to actually make a coffee (or tea or hot chocolate), so I can't yet comment on how well the system works/how good the coffee tastes. However, all the reviews I had read online suggested that it was an excellent machine. And, I'm extra happy to have saved $70 purchasing at Sears versus Future Shop.

Does anyone else own this system? Have any comments about it? Or, if you own this or a similar system and have recommendations for favourite beverage flavours that I should order.

with the grind you adjust the strenght of the coffee as well... go for a regular roast at first though

Very good advice. I wasnt aware of the burr grinder and always used the cheap blade grinder. But for about $100 you can be ground properly everytime which makes good sense.

Im a coffee black guy from way back. I usually go with PapaNicholas http://papanicholas.com/ now days (great taste and value) out of Chicago but I have ordered over the web. Some really great coffee available on the web but usually not cheap.

For example just looked and PapaNicholas Hawaiian coffee is $16.99 on the web and $6.99 (or less) at the stores. Ouch. Luckily most don't gouge that bad over the web.

a jar of instant lasts me a month. 1/4 flat spoon is pretty good, just the occasional strong coffee for me, it's not like I have to keep myself pumped for work all day.

Nice. I got to try some of the pure Kona. Dont think I have ever had pure.

Jamaican Blue Mountain I ordered over the web at about $20 a LB is prob the most spendy Ive tried. :) Few years ago and I forget where I got it off the web. It was good altho a bit "different" for lack of a better term. Kind of a more light brownish coffee.

But I love to sample good potent coffees. Legal drugs. :)
