After using Windows 7 for over a year...

Microsoft... you did it right.

Its fantastic!

But --- you must have the speed and ram for it to be fun.

Antonio 05-24-2011 11:07 PM

tell me about it - just the other day I turned on my older PC with XP and oh boy ....... took me about an hour to setup my Internet connection, had to change options, upgrade to SP3, install some crap, uninstall some other crap, with Windows 7 everything is 100 times easier and I used to love XP

NaughtyRob 05-24-2011 11:09 PM

I have XP on one, Vista on one, Windows 7 on two and the only one that sucks ass is Vista.

2MuchMark 05-24-2011 11:23 PM

Microsoft finally asked someone at the Apple Genius bar how to code.

Yeah Windows 7 (aka Vista 1.1) is a fantastically big, slow and ugly piece of shit. :2 cents:

Can you explain us why Windows 7 is better than Vista? Both operating systems have the same core...

You're obviously lost in your own self pitty.

They fucked up Vista... and they corrected themselves and fixed it.

WinXP worked but Windows 7 is rock solid, smooth, no crashes, easy to setup everything.

Any weirdo that says Linux or Apple is better is just an idiot.

Macs are good, Ubuntu is good, but Windows 7 is smooth and fantastic.

FUCK ALL YALLZ

scubadiver626 05-25-2011 01:35 AM

CurrentlySober 05-25-2011 01:54 AM

Paul&John 05-25-2011 02:09 AM

Win7 rocks it's pretty awesome, i skipped Vista so I needed a few days to get used to it (from WinXP).

V_RocKs 05-25-2011 02:19 AM

Ubuntu is faster in MANY areas... Unfortunately you still need Windows for enough shit that you end up running a Virtual Box with Windows in it.

Of course that means you probably need more ram and more ram in the video card to do those Windows tasks...

Just how they handle media is enough of a reason for me. No more codecs needed.(except for haali media splitter. Christ, on vista it wont even let you play certain videos off an external drive without jumping through a few hoops. They really messed that stuff up in vista

cooldude7 05-25-2011 03:35 AM

i m still on xp..... my system cant handle windows 7.....

calvinawe 05-25-2011 03:42 AM

At home, windows 7 works just fantastic for me. I will not flow into a win vs linux flame, both systems have their virtues. Linux is good for certain things win will never be able to cater to on the same level (at least not in the near future) and vice versa.

Kiopa_Matt 05-25-2011 03:48 AM

Yeah, I love Windows 7, and think it's excellent. Especially considering the royal fuckup Microsoft made called Vista, I'm pleasantly surprised with Windows 7. :)

suesheboy 05-25-2011 04:22 AM

Built a big box last year and used XP. Have 2 pcs with XP and now a new lap top with win 7.

Win 7 is kinda slow, but works well - even with unique external devices so far.

Who are these misterious "they"??? Vista is NT 6.0, Windows 7 is NT 6.1. As you can see, only the minor version number has been changed. This means that both operating systems have a same core with some slight changes. The difference between Vista and Windows 7 is the same as between Windows XP 64-bit Edition (NT 5.1) and Windows XP Professional x64 Edition (NT 5.2)

seeandsee 05-25-2011 04:47 AM

they had win7 core 10 yrs ago probably but they will wait to sell us more win win win

biskoppen 05-25-2011 04:51 AM

I recently upgraded my system to a Intel Core i7-2600k 3.40GHz with 16 gigs of ram - and best of all, a 240 gb SSD..

The speed this SSD provides along with the rest of the setup is insane.

Starting up CS5 with everything full loaded = 5 seconds.
Any browser = less than a second.

If you dont have SSD .. and maybe not even know what it is.. this is the time to find out.

czarina 05-25-2011 04:51 AM

been using it for about a year as well, I love it

sojproductions 05-25-2011 05:19 AM

I wouldn't say it's awesome, but it is a massive step in the right direction, apparently it is possible to polish a turd

DamianJ 05-25-2011 05:34 AM

FUCKING AWESOME

Another thread where people who use an OS that is different from their OS are called stupid!

Great stuff guys.

So, how about those pesky foreskins eh?
And Android phones?

Fucking pointless cunts

mightyjoe 05-25-2011 05:46 AM

tried it for months then go back to XP. XP still the best OS for me.

Klen 05-25-2011 05:56 AM

Using it for four months now, didnt noticed any difference from windows xp except maybe a bit better task manager and also it seems it is more resistant against crashes.

It takes a bit getting used to, but it's not bad at all :thumbsup

Porko 05-25-2011 08:49 AM

96ukssob 05-25-2011 10:03 AM

NaughtyRob 05-25-2011 11:06 AM

Terrible memory management. Crashes all the time. Freezes etc.

Windows 7 is significantly faster and more functional than Vista. I still don't like that everything is dumbed down; I'm a power user at heart, but I can work with it well enough. It's also much more secure than XP, which is a good thing.

bronco67 05-25-2011 11:12 AM

Vista and XP -- networking headaches up the ass.

Seven -- networking is a fucking breeze. I should know because I have a 3D renderfarm, and I've never had such an easy time managing it until I upgraded every machine to Win 7.

_Richard_ 05-25-2011 11:18 AM

big fan of win7

machinegunkelly 05-25-2011 11:19 AM

I love windows 7, mainly cause it reminds me of OSX.... 10 years ago suckers!

I have a 240 gig Vertex 3 and I feel I will soon upgrade to a Revodrive. The benchmarks I have seen are insane.

michael.kickass 05-25-2011 12:14 PM

Clearly the best shit Microsoft has developed in years.

Rochard 05-25-2011 12:15 PM

I have two PCs here on my desk, my main on with Vista and the new touchscreen with 7. There isn't much of a difference for me. Both run smooth and are quick. It's nice to see really that computers have come so far....

nation-x 05-25-2011 12:17 PM

Clearly it is nice to use the word clearly!

NetHorse 05-25-2011 12:22 PM

Windows 8 is due this time next year.

You'd better keep very regular backups. Your drive will only last about a year before you have a catastrophic drive failure with absolutely zero warning.

Windows has had the same core since 2000.

That is not the case with current-gen SSDs.

Ayla_SquareTurtle 05-25-2011 12:31 PM

What I like about 7 is that it runs really well on low powered systems as well. I installed it on my netbook and it runs much faster and better than it did on XP.

Yes, it is. I just trashed my 2nd SSD which lasted just over 7 months. I replaced it with a WD velociraptor. It's a lot slower but it's also a lot less expensive and more dependable.

Scott McD 05-25-2011 12:34 PM

I'm still using Vista on my desktop comp. Never really had any big issues with it...

The Dawg 05-25-2011 12:35 PM

Win 7 runs smooth for me also. No crashes, no problems what so ever. The only gripe I have is the file sharing across the network. Always asking for the admin password.
