My step father used to deal in cars from Europe back in the 1980s and once we had a 1960s GTB similar to the yellow one. What a killer car that was.

A few years ago I toyed with the idea, but it just was'nt for me. Too small , uncomfortable, my foot touched both the gas and the clutch at the same time. So I passed ,but I still love the look of some of the models:thumbsup

justinsain 05-26-2011 01:22 PM

So far I've had the opportunity to see and photograph every model on that list
except the brand new FF. The more I learn about Ferrari and their history the more I appreciate each opportunity. Right now I'm on a quest to see and photograph one of the GTOs from the mid 1960s. My best chance will be a gathering this summer in California when at least 25 of the 39 made will be in attendance :)

MaDalton 05-26-2011 01:35 PM

it's still a glorified FIAT ;)))

They do make some beautiful cars. But cars is what they are and I want something to drive rather than to look at.

I took this at the 12 hours of Sebring back in 1982. Back then I had neither knowledge or appreciation for such cars and was more there for the party aspect. This pic was taken during an exhibition parade lap of historic cars and to me they were just old cars :)

This was also during the time of film and I would typically take one or two rolls of 36 exposures so I'd really have to pick my shots and make every one count. Today with digital I'll hit the track and shoot about 1200 :winkwink:

I don't know if this is a 1954 but it is an original 250 Testa Rossa and it wasn't till many years later that I've come to realize how lucky I was. I also took one reel of super 8 movies while I was there. Haven't looked at it since so there's no telling what's on there.

The last time I was at Sebring in 2002 I passed up on another iconic car just because I didn't know what it was. Parked as part of an exhibition was one of the six Shelby Daytona Coupes. Today I would kill for the chance to see and photograph one but back then its just sitting in the background :upsidedow

I know what you're saying and they don't make the best daily driver but some people find great joy in driving their Ferrari.

Here's another video from the same gentleman showing how he drove his 250 GTO just like
someone else might drive his Corvette Stingray.

ThatOtherGuy - BANNED FOR LIFE 05-26-2011 03:51 PM

The worlds most over rated car. I do like the Enzo though.
If I could buy one I wouldnt. I am more Bugati or Lambo type.
Or fuck all...

Made my own car once, I would do it again:)

I can't believe they didn't throw the 458 Italia in there. By far one of the sexiest Ferraris ever produced.

wow ferrari eh. these days, i'd certainly have at least one in the collection but doubt i'd get 1 as a daily driver. although who knows, the new 458 is tresexy and i like the california a lot too. i am waiting to see how they do the top on the 458 cabriolet, i hope they do a carbon fiber retractable hard top and not fabric.

and they chock their cars FULL of bleeding edge technology that is a direct descendant from f1 and THAT is amazing to have available. what you see on a ferrari today, usually makes it to mainstream production cars in about 10-12 years

turn your speakers DOWN for this video!

DudeRick 05-26-2011 04:13 PM

I drove my dad's 08 SLK350 the other day for the first time and I had that same problem. seat as far back and down as it could go and my head was sticking out about 4 inches. Until I got to about 35mph I could stick my head up through the roof and see out, after that there was too much wind and I had to duck down to see. It was pretty bad.
