Scientists have confirmed planet orbiting dwarf star has stable atmosphere, temps, and liquid water

Habitable exoplanet confirmed? Warm and wet, scientists say: http://dvice.com/archives/2011/05/gliese-581d-con.php |
On the down side, since the planet is much larger 2 times the size of earth its gravity is 2 times that of earth as well.
So there will be no basking in the sun on other planets anytime soon:( Let alone trying to get there/ It might take a while till I invent space folding. |

Are the scientists wrong to say it's only double? |
And false, 6x mass does NOT mean 6 times gravity.
The radius is indeed proportional to the cube root of the mass so if r = r_earth * M^(1/3). Then, g will be g_earth * M / (M^(1/3))^2 = g_earth*M^(1/3) and everyone will be 1.91 times heavier. You might be able to walk for a little bit before... ROFL "Before fainting, he mentions yawning and feeling "sleepy and cold". Chronic hypergravity tests on rats, mice, dogs and monkeys (between 1.25g and 2.5g) have shown an effect on circadian rhythms: decreased locomotor activity (perhaps indicating drowsiness) and a drop in core body temperature, a "centrifuge-induced hypothermic response"." http://jap.physiology.org/content/95/3/1266.full But lifeforms very well could have evolved to what we would know as extra gravity. |

If something is so far away, how could they possibly know what the planet is like? I know it's science and all that, but it's just hard to believe.

Fucking media... "a wide range of plausible cases" does not confirm one damn thing. Idiots..

2x the gravity of Earth, is that really life threatening? Doubt it..
http://a57.foxnews.com/static/manage.../theplanet.JPG WTF is this? lol after pasting the URL I noticed foxnews.com, but if that's where this planet is at then WTF? |
Don't worry if we ever got to Cliese581 there will still be slow internet, taxes, girls with saggy boobs, hairy pussies and of course death. But lets look on the bright side, it's 300,000 years away.
