What kind of cardio do you do?

I have a shitty treadmill, decent bike and some wackass elliptical machine from my gf.

The treadmill doesn't raise all that much, maybe a few degrees but still puts a challenge. I used to ride a bike all the time but the small seat on this one kills my ass :disgust

Elliptical's are nice but this one isn't smooth and feels more like im jerking my legs around then doing anything productive. I'm thinking maybe incline treadmill and then bike 45-60 minutes a day.

I dont run, only interested in burning fats at a lower heart rate.

AdultKing 05-27-2011 10:19 AM

I use my walking stick to get down stairs to my motorbike :2 cents:

LOL like it, sounds like me....

WarChild 05-27-2011 10:22 AM

Incline tread mill at a fast walk will be a good one. You said you don't run on, that's good because treadmills, especially the cheaper ones, are hard on the knees when you run.

barcodes 05-27-2011 10:22 AM

I have an old boflex but I never use it. Walk the dogs every day, that's about it.

PR_Glen 05-27-2011 10:26 AM

nothing wrong with a tread mill, its just good to note that just because you can run 10k on a tread mill doesn't necessarily mean 10k off it will be just as easy ;)

I prefer swimming for cardio, but when i'm training for triathlons or marathons running is a must.

try some cycling shorts for the 'small hard seat' on the bike. You can get mountain bike ones that are loose if you don't feel comfortable wearing spandex of course!

sex
rollerblades
walking
martial arts

candyflip 05-27-2011 10:48 AM

I carry a 40 lb toddler up and down the stairs all day long.

The elliptical in my bedroom holds my wet towels.

Furious_Male 05-27-2011 10:50 AM

Timed interval heavy bag workouts. You will get more then just cardio benefits from these types of workouts.

Lykos 05-27-2011 11:34 AM

I train basketball for 2 hours every day.... :)

Tom_PM 05-27-2011 11:43 AM

Me? Cardio? Do?

I need a machine of some kind. I liked the old nordic trak ski machine one of my brothers used to have. Do they still make them?

bronco67 05-27-2011 11:58 AM

Jogging, basketball and the king of cardio --- jump rope.

96ukssob 05-27-2011 12:24 PM

i really need to pump it up to 2 hours a day, 1 in the morning and 1 at night. im doing some hardcore weight training 2x a week with a pro trainer and after 4 weeks noticed a big difference, but trying to drop as much fat as possible.

im thinking i need to get a better pair of shoes, the ones i have are horrible for doing any type of long activity on the treadmill

mynameisjim 05-27-2011 12:34 PM

Do interval style training instead of long hours of cardio, you get more bang for your buck.

It's harder but it only takes about a half hour. Intervals will also increase HGH levels which helps burn fat as well.

I have sex with my new bf for 3-5 hours a day does that count?

The Porn Nerd 05-27-2011 12:42 PM

I walk up four steps to go to my office, then run down those steps to grab my weed dealer on the corner, then back up those stairs then - OH SHIT! - that's the ice cream truck so it's back down the four steps, grab some Good Humor bars, then back up those four steps to my desk. I don't think rolling a doob and unwrapping the ice cream bars counts, tho. Wish they did.

Is this what you mean by 'cardio'?

k0nr4d 05-27-2011 01:03 PM

I stress myself out from overwork to the point my heart rate goes up

$5 submissions 05-27-2011 01:05 PM

Swimming and running every day.

Wizzo 05-27-2011 01:22 PM

Not enough... but when I do its either my bike or we have a really nice elliptical as well. :pimp

alexchechs 05-27-2011 01:24 PM

I bike 9 miles a day to commute to work... but I think I need to add a little more.

L-Pink 05-27-2011 01:28 PM

I walk a lot. Always have even as a kid.

JamesGw 05-27-2011 01:37 PM

I do a lot of interval training, but also some LSD. VO2 max is good, but pacing and recovery are also important.

PR_Glen 05-27-2011 01:40 PM

sounds like a good work out Jesus... My brother is a arbourist (lumber jack) and he wears thick chainsaw pants in the heat of the summer so there is no fat on him at all.

I'd be nervous to swing an axe but seems like something I should at least learn to do properly hehe

PornGreen 05-27-2011 02:10 PM

i get all of my cardio from fucking

Joxxy 05-27-2011 02:21 PM

3 miles running a day and 20 minutes step machine on the weekdays. On the weekends 36 holes of golf without a cart.

I have a great treadmill, bowflex, bike, weights, etc. I have to change it up because I get board fast. Anyway, last summer I cut down 25 huge Ash trees because they died from a flood, but that was one hell of an upper body workout swinging a 30lbs chainsaw around for months and lost 12 pounds of pure fat. Anyway, I was all hopped up on lumberjack adrenaline and told the wife we're going to save $1000's in heading fuel this winter! She laughed and told me to sell the wood on Craigslist and just get the cash instead or at least rent a splitter. My ego was insulted and promptly stacked 8 cords of wood next to the house and then went to Home depot and bought an Ax and wedges.

Never, I repeat NEVER do this because after 3 days of splitting 1 cord I could not move my arms for days and was in so much pain I even deleted Ax men off my DVR. Anyway, I stuck to it and split all the wood and burned it in my fireplaces and it kept the house warm all winter. I'd split a little more everyday (an hour) and 7 months later the wood was gone and my upper body got big and my arms got huge.

It was a hell of a workout and it didn't get boring. The best part was you'd see results via the wood pile getting smaller and this took focus away from the slow results normally compared to your body. The motivation factor was cool because there was a purpose ie., heating your home and I did actually save $1600 bucks. Would I do it again? Fuck No! BUt I did just buy a commercial painter and going to scape the house and paint it myself this summer.

Moral of this story? treadmills, bowflex, bike, weights, are fucking boring when you can get a good workout doing something more productive.

damn!

I have some serious yard work im going to try and get to this weekend, most of which involves shoving dirt around, wheel barrel up and down my hilly lot and carrying 40lb bags of dirt and mulch around to the back of the house to plant a garden :1orglaugh

GhengisBong 05-27-2011 02:24 PM

doesnt matter what you do its how you do it.

tobe87 05-27-2011 02:33 PM

Cardio that includes a donkey, a roll of quarters, a banana, and a rubber glove!

HAHAHA!

Redrob 05-27-2011 04:11 PM

Schwinn Model 130? upright bike I found on Amazon.com for $165. Top rated in Consumer Reports. Do 17 miles in 45 minutes on level 8. Gets my cardio up to about 155.

Nice and smooth with some good jams to listen to.

Markul 05-28-2011 02:39 AM

Do some XC MTB :thumbsup

I run. Can't say I like it, but it does allow me to eat things that would normally be off limits.

Altwebdesign 05-28-2011 08:11 AM

i go for a nice run!
