Sarah Palin

Sarah Palin's self described ?One Nation? bus tour got off to a roaring start today, as the former Alaska Governor appeared at a motorcycle rally near the Pentagon. While there wasn't a bus in sight, Palin was captured on the back of a motorcycle decked out in leather and sunglasses. Palin was asked by reporters if she expected all of her events to be as loud. The former Governor responded by saying "Oh, it would be a blast if they were this loud, if they smelled this good, I love that smell of the emissions.? :1orglaugh

Palin traveled as a passenger on the back of a bike to the Vietnam memorial. Palin announced her intent for the tour as a "fundamental restoration of America." Palin's itinerary for the tour remains a mystery, however it has been reported that she will eventually be rolling into Philadelphia, South Carolina and Iowa.

The former governor has said that she is just contemplating a possible run in the 2012 Presidential, however when asked if she was going to run on the Greta Van Susteran show, Palin stated she had ?a fire in my belly.? Palin's former running mate John McCain seems to think she has a shot at the nomination. When asked if Palin is capable of beating Obama in the 2012 race McCain declared ?of course she can.?

hearing her talk is comedy gold! :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh be sure to record her debate!

If she thought the democrats were rough on her, just wait until her fellow republicans sink their claws into her. Just look at what they did to McCain in 2000.

I still don't think she will run, she is just getting publicity and making cash.

Rochard 05-30-2011 06:41 PM

I hope she runs. I really do. It will be the best election ever!

And tons of fodder for the talk show hosts for decades to come!

She's not going to run and I've heard interviews with the organizers saying they didn't even want her there because she had nothing to do with who/what the event was about.

Gouge 05-30-2011 07:21 PM

I'm convinced that everyone is obsessed with Palin, no matter if you like or hate her the media just cant get enough. And what the fuck is up with MSNBC having people on there shows actually saying Palin could win against Obama?

On Sunday?s ?The Chris Matthews Show,? both The Daily Beast?s Andrew Sullivan and TIME editor Joe Klein agreed that if Palin runs she could have the edge on Obama.

Andrew Sullivan - Yes, because, not because of her apparent virtues, not because of Obama?s weakness, but because of unforeseen events. I do think that if for example we have a collapse in the markets because of a debt ceiling crisis, if we have a second recession, if we have another major terrorist attack, I?m just saying we shouldn?t rule out things.

Joe Klein - You were around, you were around in ?79 and ?80 as I was. Did you see many people in the Carter administration think that Ronald Reagan could beat Jimmy Carter?

Its out of control!

I have this feeling that there are some people who want her to run and get stomped so that she will just go away. After Mondale and Dukakus got crushed you never really heard from them again, the same could go for her.

If she runs against Obama, baring some kind of scandal or major incident she could lose very badly. RCP, a political website that keeps up on the polls shows Obama out in front of Palin by anywhere from 17-22 points depending on the poll. That wouldn't be so bad if she were an unknown, but she is the best-known republican who might be running. Add that together with her huge unfavorable rating and she would likely never be able to overcome that huge deficit and could get crushed.

This happens in both parties, but the Republicans have turned running for president into nothing more than a money making scheme.

Mike Huckabee had ZERO intention of running, yet he released a book and did the full talk show circuit to sell books based on tricking people that he might run. If he said he wasn't going to run early on, nobody would pay attention to him.

Newt Gingrich is the same way. Same with Sarah Palin. These guys have no intention of either running or winning, but pretending to be candidate helps build their brand, they can say crazy stuff and get free press, and continue running their PACS and selling their books and charging six figure fees to give speeches.

Interesting, I always thought that Klein was a little smarter than that.

I can rule it out.

In the event that the shit really hits the fan there's no way in hell that the electorate would turn to that empty headed MILF for solutions.

What would happen is that some real contenders, including maybe even some other Democrats, would enter the race at the last minute.

If they didn't think it, they weren't thinking. Carter was about as popular as sour milk by the last year of his administration.

He was even challenged in the Democratic Primary.

That election was Reagan's to lose, and he didn't.

Yep, Ron Paul has done it the last couple of elections. He runs, but is never serious about winning, but is sure to release a book or two as he is running or shortly after.

Fun to watch the bus-tour-to-nowhere getting off track since nobody knows where its going next. What exactly does the tour accomplish if the people who want to see you have no clue where your going. I can certainly understand she wants to avoid getting shot. Romney is not above sending out some goons if it looks like she's gonna run.

Black All Through 05-31-2011 09:42 AM

I really do hope that she runs, there could be nothing more hilarious!

She'll never be invited back to Rolling Thunder, after her sneaky way in. Oh she didn't realize NO POLITICS!?!

Despite what McCain said the other day, if she runs, the other Republicans will drag out all her dirt & IQ tests. She will be toast at once.
