like some huge company cares about your shitty content you probably shot 11 years ago ROFL.

he has always been anal about his content agreements, like if you bought a site from someone he would always try and milk the new owner cause he "didnt buy" from him, they needed a special agreement to take over the content.

His license is no different than the majority of others I have seen in this industry.

Paul just makes a bigger stink about it.

I remember one of the first times I came across PM on GFY...

Some guy had legitimately licsened some content for a certain site, but had 'lost' the URL. So, as the original one was no longer in his control, and now pointed to a parked page, he regged another similar one, and put his site back up.

Next thing you had PM all over the thread, saying he had to re-purchase the content again. The guy explained that he no longer owned the original URL, and that the original URL no longer displayed any of the content, and he just wanted to get back online with his new URL and get back to business...

Seemed fair to me - Content was only still be used once, on one site, by the same guy who had liscenced it... But Paul wouldn't let it go, and harassed the shit out of him with legal threats.

I made a mental note that if I ever purchased content, I would never go to PM...

If Paul's license agreement is to restricting customers should look elsewhere for content. If it does however restrict usage to the original licensee then he has a right to enforce that restriction. Pretty cut and dry issue.

This thread isn't about his dated content or license, it's more about the fact he thought it so important to bring up in Shap's sale thread :1orglaugh

Paul is a fucking idiot. Shap didn't own the license, his company did. Shap sold the company. Thus, everything that the company owned - the sites, the domains, any content licenses - passed on to a new owner. The owner changed, nothing else. And license or agreement or contract Shap signed passes on to the new owner.

I think this more depends on if manwin bought twisties the corporation or twisties the sites. If they bought the company itself then the corp twisties that bought the licenses is still the one running and owning it.

Yea I am pretty sure there would be a lot less acquisitions going on if the acquirer had to buy all the damn licenses again.

I'd be interested in knowing which of you who are busting his balls for licensing actually own any content yourselves. If you did, or did so in a professional manner and made a living at it, you probably wouldn't be saying anything.

There is a license for a reason and it has to be followed to the terms stated on it.

And... none of us have seen the license or the exact deal between Manwin and Twistys. If Paul claims it needs to be updated, I can only assume he would know and Manwin will deal with it accordingly.

His content, his license, his agreement that the buyer agreed to when licensing.

My thoughts exactly. As long as the actual licensee doesn't change, the license should be left intact. Otherwise, whenever a corporation would be the licensee, would the license go invalid whenever its shareholders change?
