Photo quality on phones is getting really impressive. Nobody will need a point & shoot camera soon.

yeah - and compared to all phones with cams before, this on is really easy to use. no search for settings, zooming is easy, very quick.

in general the speed with the dual core processor on the phone is very impressive - no lags, no waiting, everything goes quick and smooth

u-Bob 06-06-2011 07:39 AM

what's the video quality like?

actually pretty good as well, for me totally sufficient considering you have only one device now to carry around.

also the "Kies Air" app by Samsung is cool, you have full access to the phone by web browser and can even play music and videos via DLNA on your stereo while the phone is just lying somewhere around in the room.

looks like this:

They all still blow out on the bright parts, the first pic here has that same problem. The sky and windows are totally blown.

iPhone does the same, although the HDR mode kinda gets round it a bit.

I've not had a point and shoot for years now. If I am shooting, I take my 40D, if I just want to shoot something quick, iPhone is more than good enough.

pretty impressive shots for a phone camera :thumbsup

I have the first edition of Galaxy S and it's been great so far. Battery time could be better, but with the screen quality and all the features built into it I can't really complain.

every day i do a news search for the press release re: the u.s. release date. currently the only news is that the carriers are all dicking with it adding their gooie interfaces and squabbling over a name for it. currently it's called the Attain on AT&T, the Function on Verizon, and the Within on Sprint, it may be out in july.

unless he somehow got one of the ultra rare $800 unlocked ones, he's mistaken about which galaxy he has.

We?ve been bringing you news thick and fast about the Samsung Galaxy S2 or S II Android smartphone and one of the questions we?re asked most at the moment is about release news for the U.S. At the weekend we told you about a rumored release date on Sprint in late July but today we have heard that the Galaxy S2 is finally available on Amazon US. However, Amazon is selling the unlocked version with a shipping date of between 1 to 3 months, so when you will actually get your hands on it is questionable.

We know though just how many of you are waiting for the U.S. release and so you may still want to go for the unlocked version although the price is $699.99 with free shipping, according to Christopher Hudson over on GizmoCrunch, sourced from Amazon.com. Hudson stresses that Amazon Wireless stores are not yet selling the handset, just Amazon US, and that?s why the phone is only available for sale at the moment without contract.

Hehe, that's a problem with many of the 'big' phones out just now.

Very nice pics with the cam though. My Digital Camera is 13.6megapixels. I didn't expect mobile fones to catch up so soon...

NaughtyRob 06-07-2011 10:41 AM

That is very cool. I have a Samsung Galaxy S but the first version. Where do you get that Kies thing?

the desktop version is here: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Interne...GSM/Kies.shtml

the "Kies Air" i got from the Samsung App Store that was already installed on the phone. you need to remove the check mark to install only Android Market apps to download it

biskoppen 06-07-2011 11:01 AM

I have the S2 as well and I'm just as impressed.. the phone fucking rocks.. and for expert users, like I assume most webmasters are, iPhone is not a fucking option compared to Android... You have alot more freedom with the Android.. like being able to download any file and FTP it to your server etc.

Tip to MaDalton, turn off the automated brightness control and use black as your desktop background.. that will bring you alot of extra battery life.. and, kill all the apps as often as possible..
