Gay Cop Cant March in Gay Pride Parade in LA [in the news]

An LA Officer got his marching orders ... DENIED!

Story reads:
TMZ has learned a gay cop will file a complaint against his department, after he was denied the right to march in uniform Sunday in the West Hollywood Gay Pride Parade because it would bring "discredit" to his department.

All kidding aside with the photo we posted, that is just wrong of the LAPD (Los Angeles Police Department) and even more foolish of them for putting their position in writing. May the officer retire early and with a nice payout.

Funny story BUT wrong photo - They are UK police....

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 06-07-2011 02:28 AM

That's pretty crazy, if true... :helpme

Whenever Perez Hilton and Gloria Allred get involved, I try to seek other sources rather than buying everything they are selling (which is mostly themselves). :2 cents:

Worst case, the cop can always get a job in the Bay Area...here is former San Francisco Police Chief Heather Fong, leading the Police contingent (which participates every year) in the SF Pride Celebration and Parade, in support of LGBT pride and rights:

Although she maintained a low profile with regards to her sexual orientation, it was widely suggested that Chief Fong is a lesbian.

This video includes Gay and Lesbian SF police officers marching in uniform with their partners:

The SF Pride Parade is traditionally led off each year by Dykes on Bikes:

The 41st Annual Pride Celebration and Parade takes place this year on June 25th and 26th, with the parade starting at 10:30am on the 26th, the theme is "In Pride We Trust".

Sponsorpimp, I was looking for a better pix to post, but none fit the bill like this one, even though I knew they were "bobbies" from the UK. I figured I could kill two birds with one stone. Get a good laugh out of the shot on this board, and :2 cents: piss of some blokes on the beerand******** board.

The cop can march but not in uniform. It's great to be proud but being a cop has absolutely nothing to do with being gay. Allowing a uniformed officer to march in anything while uniformed implies the police department endorses it. The police should remain completely, 100% neutral in matters like this.

Agreed :2 cents:

It is weird cause they allowed Bernard Parks in uniform

Anal Hobbit 06-07-2011 11:03 AM

He should be allowed to wear his uniform yes.. SanFran and LA should be ok.. But the moment New Orleans Cops are allowed dont be shocked when they whip out the rubber cocks and start swinging them around.

Anal Hobbit 06-07-2011 11:06 AM

On a serious note I do think the LAPD is making a mistake in not letting him March in Uniform.. But the LAPD isnt known for being the most tolerant police dept.. Nothing shocks me when it comes to the LAPD and anything that has to do with civil rights.

Why is it wrong and what grounds would he have for a lawsuit?

beerptrol 06-07-2011 12:55 PM

if he wants to march in uniform he needs to gather others in order to complete the Village People ensemble

dallasnovelty 06-07-2011 03:37 PM

Deputies in the Dallas County Sheriffs Dept are allowed to march in uniform because the grand marshal is Sheriff Lupe who is a lesbian with female partners in the parade.http://i1139.photobucket.com/albums/...upe-valdez.jpg
Which is pretty crazy since you cant ship certain lesbian/XXX movies and toys into Dallas/Ft Worth area since we are in buckle of the southern baptist bible belt. All of the Dallas Mayors and city council ride in the parade too.

dynastoned 06-07-2011 03:49 PM

he can't march because they need him to shoot fucking tear gas into the crowd if it gets too large

brassmonkey 06-07-2011 03:52 PM

he should buy a cop costume and stop being a drama queen.

UPDATE: Victory for Gay Cop at Gay Pride Parade!

Quote:

June 7, 2011 - CDCR Statement in Response to Correctional Officer Andrew Johnson!s Request

?The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation embraces the diversity of the people of California. CDCR understands its responsibility to ensure that its officers and staff treat all Californians equally and encourages cultural awareness of the many facets of our state!s society.

CDCR did not intend to offend any segment of the population with its recent refusal to allow a correctional officer from participating in a Gay Pride Parade while wearing the department!s official uniform. The decision was made solely on an interpretation of an admittedly ambiguous section of the Department Operation Manual (DOM) as it relates to unauthorized use of the CDCR uniform.

Upon review, CDCR acknowledges that the DOM is outdated and requires careful revision. Therefore, Correctional Officer Andrew Johnson will be allowed to wear the CDCR uniform in the upcoming Gay Pride Parade in Los Angeles on June 12, 2011. CDCR apologizes to Officer Johnson and any Californian who may have been offended by the original decision."

doubt he could march in a KKK or nazi rally either... why must the PD support him being gay? wasn't he hired to be a cop?
