Don Lapre indicted for posting tiny classified ads
PHOENIX ? A grand jury has indicted a Phoenix-based TV pitchman accused of running a nationwide scheme to sell essentially worthless Internet-based businesses to more than 200,000 people.
Federal prosecutors say Donald Lapre is charged with 41 counts of conspiracy, mail fraud, wire fraud and promotional money laundering. He's accused of overseeing and promoting the opportunity through his company called "The Greatest Vitamin in the World." During the course of the scheme, the government says at least 220,000 victims were defrauded of nearly $52 million. Lapre was often seen on television giving his hard-luck life story and how he was able to turn his life around. He refers to himself on his website as "The King of Infomercials." Lapre has not responded to an email seeking comment. |
52 millions , jesus people with 250$ to spare on that lurcker!
|
he should fight it
if people had worked hard, i imagine many would have made money |

I think the American dream of making millions without working ends with jail. People like to leave out the going to jail part.:1orglaugh:1orglaugh |

I have no idea what all of his "companies" were as it sounds like he had many from the article. But if he can show that his systems does work if you follow the steps and do the process on a daily basis, he should win. The biggest problem I have seen on the web is that people want to make money while doing absolutely no (or minimal) work. Just like the lotto or casino. Most simply do not have the personality or patience to do the same daily routine for years, CONSISTENTLY, to make money. Everyone has the "dream" of self employment, being your own boss, and making millions. The reality is that it is still "work" just online, or from home. You just get to do it from your house, and your jammies. People forget the "work" part of the equation to self employment. :2 cents: |

But yes, without actually doing the work of the e-book, how-to guide, blue print, road map, you will fail. Most want the money, but do not want to work for it. :2 cents: |
sounds like he went from selling products that were somewhat useful (tiny classified ads) to ones that were pure garbage scam, basically paying for an opportunity to get upsold to other products.
plus if you look at the charges they are mostly fraud and money laundering, much more than a complaint about a get rich course. |
He fucked up.

Yep; what you wrote. I recently had an affiliate who quit because he/she made one single post on one of the social networks and got no response. DUH! This affiliate cannot find in his/her busy life the time it requires to do a bit of social networking IMing, while being unable to make house payments, running short of food but does find the time to surf the social networks writing about everything but business.......................................... .................................................. .. As the comedian says, "You can't fix STUPID!" |
Ok that's pretty fucked. Quoted: "sell essentially worthless Internet-based businesses". Buying a business is pretty much what you make out of it and how you run it. I don't think there is any such thing as "selling essentially worthless Internet-based businesses". Only thing i can make out of my fucked up mind right now is selling fecal matter online and telling the buyers it will turn into diamonds if they leave it in the rain and sun for a few months. It's client/new owner stupidity in my opinion. If you don't have common since, they need to work at a thrift store.

I remember my first ever sale on the internets, I was like 15 or 16 and I was on eBay and found a for sale 'business' selling email lists. What I didn't know at the time was the value of what I was buying so ended up buying for $40 this 'business' which consisted of just selling email lists to people. But the way it made me money was to do exactly what was done to me - sell the whole thing as a business. This is basically what this guy teaches people to do and on that sale I made $500+ which at the time was amazing. It does work, but you have to be persistent and patient (pretty much what you wrote up there). |
he's a fraud. fuck who cares?
|
lol, what jfk said... ;)
who can forget those infomercials... didn't he hire "the webs most downloaded model" whatsherface to co-host? T&A for the win. And all from his tiny one bedroom apartment... ! |
they busted the guy for selling capitalism to the people lol
