Hey I know this guy who is looking to do something with this site and I was considering investing. Can you guys honestly let me know if it's worth it and if it has potential.

Are you really that naive? Why would you register a domain with "youtube" in it and then be dumb enough to actually invest time into developing it? You're infringing on their trademark, expect a cease and desist from Google.

There are legal ways to use such a domain. Look into Nominative use
