Land of the Free: Police Officer Arrest Woman in Her Front Yard for Filming the Cops ( video )

Quote:

As video cameras grow ever more ubiquitous, confrontations -- both legal and physical -- over their use are becoming more common.

Case in point: NBC affiliate WHEC-TV in Rochester, N.Y., reported Tuesday on an incident in which police arrested a woman who filmed a traffic stop from her front yard and refused an officer?s order to go into her house. The woman, 28-year-old Emily Good, was later charged with a misdemeanor: obstructing governmental administration.
OK, let's hear it :

- listen to the police, whatever...
- she could have been a terrorist ...
- next time, flash your pussy if you want to videotape...

On the other hand, need to protect the Fox TV show " COPS " .... :1orglaugh

brassmonkey 06-22-2011 06:08 PM

Darkhorse 06-22-2011 06:16 PM

There was a video of a dude recently where the same happened to him, he was thrown on the ground and got pretty fucked up by them.

A civilian is required to obey the orders of officers and if one feels that their rights have been violated one has multiple avenues of legal remedies.

Lol really? Do you know that for a fact? Or are you just making things up?

?Citizens may resist unlawful arrest to the point of taking an arresting officer's life if necessary.? Plummer v. State, 136 Ind. 306. This premise was upheld by the Supreme Court of the United States in the case: John Bad Elk v. U.S., 177 U.S. 529. The Court stated: ?Where the officer is killed in the course of the disorder which naturally accompanies an attempted arrest that is resisted, the law looks with very different eyes upon the transaction, when the officer had the right to make the arrest, from what it does if the officer had no right. What may be murder in the first case might be nothing more than manslaughter in the other, or the facts might show that no offense had been committed.?

officers are also public servants and must be viewed by the public.

I almost got arrested in rochester for the same thing.. Most of the cops are corrupt.. its a very corrupt city.

Not only that...

The woman is arrested for not getting out of the fucking way as she is asked to multiple times by police. She is obstructing justice. The police even let her hand off the camera to someone else! But no, "Woman is arrested because she's a moron and obstructs police trying to make an arrest" doesn't have the same ring to it.

fucking sheeple. gfy as always.

Preposterous. The woman was not doing anything wrong filming the police in her own front yard. American police don't like being filmed because they are often doing something wrong that they would be ashamed to be seen doing or get in trouble for. The reason these cases keep happening lately is because nowadays unlike years ago everyone and their grandmother has a camera on their person nowadays and are able to catch the police bullying, pushing people around and violating their rights.

Obstructing justice my ass, she was 20 feet away from where 'justice' was was being instituted IN HER OWN FUCKING YARD. Why do you hate America?

DBS.US 06-22-2011 08:36 PM

Don't talk to fucking cops!

Biggy2 06-22-2011 09:25 PM

meh, you want to stand up for your rights, you get arrested. its how life functions everywhere. google noam chomsky. no different in the 70s when ppl protested against the war. no different than the civil rights movement of the 60s. history is a lesson. we are not that far from those time periods.

we still live in a time period where most americans see a book of potentially fictional stories as a guiding way to their life. and if you film popo in the dark, and they ask you to move out of fear of their own safety and you do not oblige, because you think its your right and you think they can't do anything to you, then you get arrested. and guess what, the judge may side with the cops. life isnt fair, i guess its a matter of how much you really want to "stick it to the man" and the price you are willing to pay for it.

it may not be the fairest, but I also wouldn't call this the most ultimate abuse of power or trampling of rights. if you are going to film cops, make sure you do it where you capture them doing something truly fucked up and do it so they cant visually see you, and if they say something - walk away. of course, if you catch them doing something really bad, they may chase you down for the footage in a CYA-type scenario. something like this actually happened recently in LA (where cops actually broke people's cell phones to destroy footage). play it smart.

life isnt fair when ppl have authority. but we have it a bit better here then in other 3rd world countries in south america, russia, asia, etc.

SmokeyTheBear 06-22-2011 10:53 PM

this is a pretty simple one.. You will always find some idiot to say that she should have listened to the cops instructions, these are the same retards that would suck a terrorists cock if they were instructed to do so..

She was given a suggestion to go inside the house , not an order, because it would not be legal, she asked what the order was, she was not given one.. if she fights it , the case will be tossed , but like many legal cases it is a game of chance , usually it ends in a guilty plea to a lesser charge.

burntfilm 06-22-2011 11:13 PM

Civilian Americans are charged with knowing the laws. Police and Govt. officials have no authority to direct orders at anyone not breaking those laws. If a cop tells you to pull down your pants and shove a cattle prod up your ass, you in fact do not have to. If you did it anyway I'm sorry for you.

camperjohn64 06-22-2011 11:59 PM

My favorite phrase "There is a reason why cops are called pigs"

scarlettcontent 06-23-2011 12:58 AM

fucked up!

the day will come raging citizens lure cops into traps to give a lil back ... until then ...

It was her friend who she believed was being pulled over simply for being black. They cops searched his car (even though he did not consent), found nothing and let him go.

I'm actually talking to this girl for the past day on Facebook, as she is a friend of a few of my friends. She's pretty much a peace loving hippie and they're doing their best to smear her name.

After they arrested her, they took her to a high school parking lot where the officers had a meeting to discuss the best way to minimize that blowback they knew this was going to cause.

People here are NOT happy about this.

Cherry7 06-23-2011 06:21 AM

I think it was brave of that woman to film the cops.

Of course she had every right to film them, and they should be happy that citizens view and witness them at work. It is what should happen in a free and open society.

They are they guilty ones the minute they tried to stop the woman filming. One wonderds what they had to hide.

Nikki_Licks 06-23-2011 06:22 AM

Typical fucking cop. I hope she sues the city for that and it cost that cop his job :2 cents:

candyflip 06-23-2011 06:34 AM

I like that you've got four armed cops and one of them tells a small girl with a camera that he doesn't feel safe behind her.

A few years back we had an officer shot in the head from behind by a 14 year old with a 22, in broad daylight...in front of a large crowd. This has definitely had an effect on our officers, especially the young inexperienced ones.

I also have a friend who had a similar run in right before the new year.

These cops really do think that if they talk, people are required to listed.

It would appear to me that he is using that as an excuse to get her out of the way so they don't get caught fucking up on camera which he did in the end....hopefully she filed a complaint and called an attorney :thumbsup

I would have gone into the house and still filmed it...maybe even called all the neighbors to watch the action.

so this peace loving hippy wants to be treated differently than everybody else?

not so peace loving..

NetHorse 06-23-2011 09:30 AM

Yawn..

That was clearly a wrongful arrest, but honestly, who fucking cares? Get lives people. Life isn't fair, cops have shitty days and sometimes they have to deal with shitty people. It has nothing to do with America or a change in times.

LEOs are people just like anyone else, no need to start a hippie protest because one cop made a wrongful arrest and there is a video of it on youtube.
