Canadian webmasters suffering?
Hello,
I'm a Canadian webmaster and I'm waiting on several checks thanks to this ongoing postal strike. This postal strike has really affected my income. It's a little disappointing how many sponsors don't pay with Paxum or other electronic means. Are other Canadian webmasters feeling the pinch? I called the US Postal Service and they told me checks are being held at the post office and not being sent. At least they're not getting returned. Any fellow Canadians, feel free to post news on the postal strike here and vent your frustrations. |

welcome to GFY, in south america post office is a joke, pleas feel glad to live in Canada

Working on a back to work legislation "Bill C-6 was tabled on Monday by Labour Minister Lisa Raitt that will force the postal employees to return to work if passed. The bill is being condemned both for proposed wage reductions and in total by Opposition Mps who say it drastically weakens collective bargaining rights in general. The bill is scheduled for debate in the House of Commons Thursday, but parameters for the bill’s passage must first be determined. It is anticipated that Conservative House leader Peter Van Loan will introduce a motion for closure. Canada Post employees will continue to work on a settlement with Crown Corporation management while the bill is being debated." |
Yeah, the NDP are going to try to delay it as long as they can. My only concern is that my checks are getting lost in the shuffle. Are all the sponsors still sending out checks to Canadian webmasters as usual? I sure hope so.
|
Yeah this is pretty lame for me here too, after epassporte shut down I switched the majority of payment options to check just because its so much easier knowing there will always be checks. So much for that :(
Hopefully things clear up in the next couple of weeks! |
Yeah it's a pain in the ass for sure!
|
Postal workers should appreciate they still have decent paying jobs and settle up and end this before a arbitrator settles for them and less what was offered.
|
Does anyone else have checks being held in the system due to the postal strike? I'm worried about where mine are!
|
Wow, I am surprised to hear that in a socialist mecca like Canada.. big government would produce dysfunctional results.
Not. |

Well, let's hope canadapost will start working next week or so Btw I almost pissed my pants watching this south park episode, especially the song :D :D :D :D :D thanks! http://www.southparkstudios.com/clip...as-strike-song |
Yes, everyone is expecting Canada Post to get back to work next week. I'm sure it'll happen. Does anyone know if the sponsors are doing anything different for sending checks to Canadian webmasters?
|
Canadian webmasters are nothing more than a myth. They don't have the Internetz in Canada. Don't be silly.
|
It's being debated today but f'ing NDP is wanting to hold it up, even though it'll still get passed. Jeez. Do they not realize some of us Canadians are awaiting several checks from sponsors?
|
Hopefully resolved by next week, then your bills can resume as well. ;)
|
stick to wire then

Yeah, missing multiple checks, total clusterfuck. Having worked in the postal stream I can tell you when it gets turned back on it will be very delayed.
|
Alias, I would assume the checks that have been sent to me are in the post office facility, no? I hope they won't get delayed any more than they have.

do you even understand the definition of a socialist nation? We run things almost the same way you do, maybe if you slow down on the propaganda some and do some actual reading you'd understand a bit more clearly. |

I wouldn't be working with a sponsor that doesn't have more then one payout option. Everyone should have at least one online payout method option.

Fortunately, 90% of my income is direct payments, so the postal strike is not affecting me this way, but I did buy a MacBook Pro that was to be delivered by XpressPost (normally 2 days ..) on June 4th - and I am still waiting on it :( :(

You erroneously believe that I am attempting to put down your country to prop up my own. To be clear, the US is in decline because of some of the very same government policies. The US and Canada (and many other countries) are all suffering because of punishing taxation and big government spending AKA socialism. The bottom line is a global economic catastrophe. Have you been following the problems in Greece and Portugal and, and, and..? |

The postal strike is becoming a pain in the ass, more so that if it doesn't end by the first of the month I'm going to have to drive our affiliates checks to Plattsburgh and mail them from there.

I have made the trek to Plattsburg a couple times already ... |

Is anyone else here really pissed at the NDP for continuing to delay this process? Us webmasters need our checks!

I took a look through Kijiji the other day (for those not in Canada that's Ebay's free classified site sort of like craig's list) and there ere quite a few people looking for donations of food, diapers, wipes, laundry soap, formula etc because of the postal strike. They aren't getting their baby bonus and family allowance checks. For some of them that's 40 percent of their monthly income. Postal strike rough on a lot of people.. I'm glad they are working on a back-to-work order.
The strike was on ridiculous grounds anyways. Make an entire country suffer because of retirement, employment and wage benefits that are changing across the board in every industry including their own. Don't like how the company is headed? Go with the competition then.. it's just as bad there. Purolator and UPS have both laid off 100's of employees for the past few years and cut back retirement packages yet only their Quebec based employees (at purolator) are allowed to have a union. Never hear of them striking either. Even though they make less than Canada Post employees and minimal benefits. |

I agree, Canada Post shouldn't be able to hold the entire country hostage. It's too essential. I was told today that the USPS isn't legally allowed to strike, the same system should be here in Canada.
Now, can some of the affiliate program please offer more means of electronic payments like Paxum? Thanks! |

For our Canadian affiliates we just wrote the cheque off and did an email money transfer. Safer anyways lol.
|
In addition to checks, we can pay by PayPal, Payoneer and wire transfer.
