How do you generate leads for web design?

Cold calls, email, small business networking, word of mouth, guerrilla marketing...

So far my mainstream business has been word of mouth.

I have been thinking of guerrilla marketing tactic.

What are you doing?

I do Wordpress design and development too and I get most clients by word-of-mouth but I need more client, so I am starting with Craigslist & Backpage. I know there are bunches of weirdo's on both sites but wtf? they are free.

Try promoting on different forums and post about your services. The more you get seen, the more customers you will receive.

Try sites like odesk and vworker, bid on jobs and you end up getting long term clients.

I would definably go business to business with brocheirs and leave them for the owners. Have a flat rate $199 a year for everything, these guys are probably tech illiterate and need a simple cost effective solution. Also let them know it's a tax write off.

Find some local business networking meetings. Most cities have plenty of them. I have been to a few and get new customers all the time.

try posting on free lancer boards. spamming on forums will probably get you the worst type of customers (cheap assholes).

try setting up a facebook/twitter account and blast out promos or even partner with another company that offers advertising and do a cross promo offer
