Yea it's digital. I haven't been in a darkroom in years. And I have no interest in smelling stop bath & fixer every again....as long as I live :winkwink:

I rediscovered the joys (and frustrations) of making b&w prints over a year ago, and I'm having a blast spending one day a week smelling stop bath & fixer. My darkroom is in Sherman Oaks, and you have an open invitation, Dean, to bring negs and make some prints any time you want.

I too would like to know about the sun rays - they don't seem to be in the original - are they added in?

You really need to get rid of those borders man, they take away from the post production work you're doing on the photo.

halfway serious question dean, do black/brown girls film well in b/w or are there contrast issues. i would think only pale white and jet black skin tones would fare well in b/w

Yea they film ok. The challenge is to make sure that you don't put a black girl in front of a black (or dark) background (unless for special effect). Dark skin against lighter background and light skin against darker background will be best for good contrast & good separation in B&W photography. I actually "burned in" (darkened) the tree a little to allow her to have a bit of separation from the tree in my B&W pic here.

In color photography, it's not as much of a challenge because you now have "color" that you can use to help separate your model from the background, not just "tones" as you have in B&W.

I used to shoot a lot of B&W film years ago and did my own printing as well but haven't done much since I entered the digital age. To be honest, not much demand for it for the folks that I produce content for. I tinker with it once in a while just for fun but I don't shoot any B&W in a serious way :thumbsup
