Reagan The Liberal

http://addictinginfo.org/wp-content/...n_ONLY_PIC.jpg

It is absolutely true that Ronald Reagan is the most influential President in the 20th Century after FDR. And its true that Reagan died a Republican. But did you know that Ronald Reagan was in fact a LIBERAL for thirty years of his life? I?m certain many of my Republican readers are hyperventilating at this point, probably asking themselves how I can say such a thing about their hero. But the fact remains that Reagan was a liberal and that liberalism influenced some of what Reagan did during his presidency between 1981 and 1989.

“If you're not a liberal at twenty you have no heart, if you're not a conservative at forty you have no brain.”

- Winston Churchill

The phrase originated with Francois Guisot (1787-1874): "Not to be a
republican at twenty is proof of want of heart; to be one at thirty is
proof of want of head."

I was aware of that. He was a Union head or something like that as well.

RR and Nixon are/were to the left of most democrats today. The republicans are great at moving the goalposts.

FDR was the last US president that truly cared about the people.. :2 cents:

Not hyperventilating. Just like other intelligent human beings when he encountered new information and underwent new experiences, he tried to align it with his existing belief set. When there was a conflict, he chose to realign his belief set and switched from liberal to conservative. The reverse can also be true, Garry Wills and Arianna Huffington started out as conservatives and became liberal.

It happens. The important thing is not to let pride, shame, or fear of loss get in the way when it comes to a "conversion moment" and you have to change your thinking. Ego is the biggest impediment of personal change.

A conservative is a liberal who got mugged the night before.

Maybe if you didn't have our head so far up your ass, you would know Reagan was a Democrat at first.

I didn't leave the democratic party, it left me
Ronald Reagan

Republicans believe every day is the Fourth of July, but the democrats believe every day is April 15.
Ronald Reagan

The problem is not that people are taxed too little, the problem is that government spends too much.
Ronald Reagan

But did you know that the most liberal president in the history of the US, Abe Lincoln was the first Republican?

Just because I think Obama is a shitty president, everyone thinks I'm a GOP, I'm not, if you had half a fucking clue, you would have figured that out.

What is there to really comment on? Anyone and everyone who supported RR then and his values today knows he was a Democrat, this is not breaking news or some newly discovered information.

Moral: Reagan finally came to his sense, then he changed the world.

Should we start the Vendzilla game? His quote and the reality are two entirely different things.

Oops, I think I ruined the game.
