I dont think this is going to take off. People are to used to Facebook to switch over and the only way IMO it would fly, would be if it integrated into FB and somehow made things easier

I think the future ( actually the present) of social networking are niches, Niche oriented Social networks.

If they can incorporate it seemlessly into Android, it could definitely take off.

They are putting 500k new Android phones online each day, worldwide.

How many attempts has Google made at social networking now?

People bash Orkut and call it a failure, but it's actually pretty popular in South America and other countries besides the US.

Orkut is #1 in Brasil, its problem was that it came out a bit too soon, users were not ready for social networking.

Well if they properly integrate into android somehow there is a massive amount of people they could sort of force it onto.

I took the tour, and it looks interesting, I like the "circle" concept, and it's much easier then when I have to block my kid and certain family from seeing some of my posts on FB.

AND without all those damn games that FB has it's safe to say the news feed would not be cluttered to death (at least not right away lol)

I think the best this can hope to achieve is to fragment Facebook's market a little, my bet is that's the whole idea.

it's all about the features, if they are good and they are more private then I think it will.

The circles concept is interesting. I'll certainly try it out. I have Facebook fatigue, but I still like Twitter.

After checking out the Demo videos, this will really unavoidable to use if you are an Android user.

The group messaging, instant upload of your photos and videos are just two of the things that I know a lot of people will make use of.

As soon as someone develops a good google social network auto spammer please advertise here.
