Do concert goers actually enjoy concerts?

All I see are people taking photos and videos. Is that why people go to concerts now? Does anyone actually just enjoy the show, scream and dance their asses off?

i was thinking the same, wtf are we gone in some shity mentality just to record record record

candyflip 06-30-2011 08:28 AM

They're streaming the show live to all their friends.

That way more people can enjoy it...and for free.

Doesn't get much better than that, right? :1orglaugh

RebelR 06-30-2011 08:33 AM

Its a new generation of concert goers. A generation of people that would rather show people through social media that they are doing something cool, than to actually just live in the moment and enjoy something.

Jman 06-30-2011 08:34 AM

First of all this a a Rhianna show... not a concert LOLOL

With that said I can'T wait to see Metallica in Quebec in couple of weeks :))

Rochard 06-30-2011 09:17 AM

I went to a concert last month and I was stunned - at any given time half the people had their cell phones out and was video taping it. Really? You paid big bucks to be there and your going to spend your time holding a phone to grab a crappy video that you'll delete by the end of the week?

New generation of people that can't stop talking about themselves?

Jake 06-30-2011 10:20 AM

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing! Went to the U2 360 concert in Denver last month and was overwhelmed by the number of people taking video during the concert. The guy in front of us had his phone in the air most of the concert. Takes away from the experience for everyone, not just the people doing taking video/pics.

yep, people are getting lame by the minute, sad really..

MrMaxwell 06-30-2011 10:30 AM

That one guy hit the nail dead center on the head of it, there. People are more concerned with how the look, or saying they did this or that, or showing that they did this or that, than having actual experiences.

Motherfuck being a big fan of anyone. I don't know who 90% of top celebs even are. People will tell me "some name someothername" did this last week and I say, who is "some name someothername"? And they look at me like I am from space

I don't know or care who the fuck they are until they come up with a way to entertain me. And even then, they're "that one clown who does this" or "that fool who does that"

Human beings aren't be be idolized

I know most of you think this or that one famous slut is "UM LIKE OMG SO HOT" hell I could go out and find hoodrat bitches got more sex appeal than half of these "super hot model women"

Shit

How was the show? I'm going to see them in Montreal next Friday, they have 2 shows 80,000 people per show, it's going to be a mad house.

I'm constantly explaining to younger people the difference between musicians and entertainers. With that being said, pretty sure James Hetfield wont be lip syncing :winkwink: Have fun at the concert.

It rocked! Probably one of the best concerts I've ever seen. Bono is da man! You're gonna have a great time Kenny!

brassmonkey 06-30-2011 10:55 AM

Geez, I agree with Rochard about something...hell must be icing up.

Sophie Delancey 06-30-2011 11:01 AM

That's so sad! I tend to be less of an arena, more of a small venue person, so I haven't noticed it nearly as much. I'd be so weirded out if I was surrounded by iPhones instead of people genuinely watching and enjoying what's going on.

BlackCrayon 06-30-2011 11:03 AM

I sometimes record a bit of the shows I go to. In no way is it because I want to look cool or something...as a collector of bootleg audio and video concerts catching some of every show I go to is a bit of a hobby and its nice when you can catch a different version from the album being done or something different happening.

96ukssob 06-30-2011 11:06 AM

why would you go if you didnt plan to enjoy it?

captainjapan. 06-30-2011 11:44 AM

I went to U2 in Miami last night...I took one picture of the stage before the lights went down and thats it. fuck video taping everything. i do live for the moment. besides, i can always go on youtube the next day and see any song from the night before

CurrentlySober 06-30-2011 11:47 AM

I have never gone to a concert...

I can AFFORD to...

But just have never been - Aside from The Cramps in LA...

But that wasn't so much a concert as a huge mess of fists fighting craziness... And... I *think* someone *might* have played some music?

DWB 06-30-2011 12:12 PM

I believe they are time shifting the performance.
