wtf bitcoin ?
i wanted to give it a try.,
so i did., cpu: intel core 2 duo 2.66 ghz., ram : 3 geg ddr2 video ram : nvidia 9400gt 1 gb ddr2 ram. hd 660 gb i kept that app. running more than 3 hours and i get this http://uploadpic.org/storage/2011/nL...qIrcA8aZJK.jpg not a single cent ?? am i doing something wrong ? wtf ? Thanks for your time . anyone had any success ? minning ? |
No, you are not wrong... you are a sheep. Enjoy your flock. Your shepard just used your PC for unthinkable acts.
This place never ceases to amaze me. |

so i tried it nad damn, not a single cent . :disgust |
You have to have AMD/ATI graphics card to mine bitcoins :pimp

calculator to estimate how much can you mine based on hashing rate
http://bitcoinx.com/profit/ table of verious hardware and their various hashing rates based on various overclock and miner settings https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison CPU mining is so 2009-10, nvidia is obsolete too solo mining is pointless now unless you have mining farm with throughput of 10+ GigaHash/sec |
Stick to WOW gold...:winkwink:

nVidia is focused more on floating point calculations and ATI is better for integer calculations which is used for mining bitcoins. Plus ATI's have more streaming processors do your homework! :) |

dude, if you have taken as much time as it took to make the screenshots to cry in this post to read about bitcoin, you'd have known that:
1. your gfx card is worth fuck all when it comes to mining bitcoins 2. bitcoins are mined in blocks, so when you get some, you'll get a block with 50 bitcoins 3. this one's just for fun.. bitcoin value: about $15 atm. you spend 3 hours doing fuck all and you cry you didn't make $15.. you thought it would be that easy? yea i <3 gfy too, all kinds of ppl here ps. your pc is a piece of shit |
not all is lost, you may go to the bit coin faucet for a free bit of a bitcoin;)

How many Viagra spam emails did they have your computer send out in the 3 hours?

thanks a lot for your input. i have to upgrade my pc to something with i7 and with ati. |

So really, what is the processing used for? There has to be profit at the foundation of bitcoin for it to be worth something.

of course you can always sell stuff for bitcoins, alot less $ in order to do this. |
cpu/ram/video ram don't effect mining.
all you need good GPUs and enough power/cooling to OC them to get good hashing rates... I have 2 ATI 5830 which give total 550MHash/s and unless I add another 500+ MHash its not worth much mining atm unless price per BTC shoots over $20-25 get on the mining forum, there's lots of great advice before investing in hardware study links in my first first reply here, to get good idea what to expect and keep in mind difficulty resets every 10-14 days and been going up constantly so you will have to account for that too, good thing increase of difficulty is slowing down atm, maybe we'll see decrease soon, just don't bet on it |
they have some javascript, you add it to your site and your surfers pc resources will be used to this thing and u make money,., only bigger tubes can earn some nice cash i guess., and surfer will think why their cpu usage is so high, while watching porn,
but as statastics says , average male watches porn for 12 minutes , then also million hits /day* 12 minutes, 12 mil. minutes., thats a lot cracking. just a thought. |

as network grows it becomes more secure against attacks. Currently networks processing power is greater than 500 top supercomputers combined. Only way to attack the network is to have same amount or greater of processing power then block chain can be forked and you may be able to do some nasty things, if you would want to rewrite older older transactions in blockchain you will need to spend even greater amount of processing power. From this perspective network isn't 100% secure but with such processing power attacker will be more profitable at mining then corrupting the network. Sorry I side-tracked but there is lots of stuff behind how this technology works with very elegant math solution to keep it decentralized and secure. Bitcoin worth is really in ability to make fast and cost effective transactions in a secure decentralized way. This is first tech that can be greatly utilized for micro-payments as well. Too much into to be able to put in few paragraphs :Oh crap hopefully I didn't make it more confusing. |

If you consider the initial cost of hardware, the cost to you in lost processing cycles that could be used for other things, the cost of your internet connection, the cost of the electricity to run your computers while mining, the depreciated value of the hardware over time and the value of your own labor installing the bitcoin mining software and keeping track of it all, it's very hard to see any value in the whole proposition unless bitcoin value is relatively high.
|
it all comes down to cost of new mining hardware and electricity, justifying against speculation of mining difficulty and btc price
mining GPUs selling out like hotcakes, you won't find much of used ones selling cheaper than retail unless you get lucky (if there's huge bitcoin crush and everyone rushes to sell their GPUs then it will depreciate significantly) internet you already paying for, not much BW used processing cycles are not lost in dedicated mining rigs, I run miners on my workstation and it didn't slow down my PC one bit, can even watch netflix while mining without quality loss unless you pull processing cycles from already intence tasks such as video rendering/3modeling, it is not an issue labor cost depends how organized, optimized and crafty you're, yes there is a learning curve, ones you setup everything you just have to keep an eye on it with occasional downtime for maintenance/repairs. people running dozens of rigs - they may spend more time in labor, but they are making it their business not a hobby |
