What is the best way to receive funds when selling a site, with out getting scammed?

Consult with a lawyer, I'd rather pay several hundreds than lose thousands. Choice is yours though. I've heard of a couple horror stories but I won't go into those here.

When I sold one of my sites the guy who purchased it did a direct bank transfer. I then handed over the site to him. It was a very smooth transaction

No Thanks.. Also, that's an insult. $300 buck does not even cover a few hours of design for the site.

First make sure you know who you're dealing with, don't just sell to some random kid who decides to contact you via ICQ or w/e.

The best way to recieve funds if large is probably by bank wire. Ask them to send you a confirmation letter first or wait until the money is in your bank before you start giving away info.

That site looks a lot like a site I remember from awhile ago. I thought the site was ranking top spot on google for "strippers" or something and you were asking how to capitalize on that term.

Using a lawyer or getting cash upfront or even selling to someone well known isn't necessary.

Using an escrow service such as escrow.com or moniker.com is.

The domain goes into escrow (into moniker's nameservers) and so does the buyer's cash... neither is released until both mediums are in escrow and all terms have been negotiated.
