Casey Anthony sentence handed down for lying to police

4 years with time served and a $4,000 fine for lying to police.

She was facing 16 years, 4 for each count.

A legislator has sponsored Caylee's Law which will make it a crime in FL if you fail to report your child missing in a timely manner. I expect that other states without such a law will adopt it with the same name.

This is the second time I have seen you post that. What makes you think so? It is my understanding each count carried a maximum of 1 year and $1,000.

TheDA 07-07-2011 08:28 AM

Still trying to workout how long she will serve.

The judge caved to public pressure. And I was right, the MAXIMUM she could have gotten was 4 years. She never faced 16 years on the misdemeanor convictions.

She will still likely get out, as she should. She will have to pony up the $4k.

DateDoc 07-07-2011 08:37 AM

The court has just said she will be released July 13, 2011. Next Wednesday!

it should be the end of the saga, but I doubt, if it will ever end:2 cents:

They'll scoot her out the back door in a laundry cart before then is my guess. Probably like sunday night, or an hour ago.. something sneaky to dodge the whacky people out there.

A sun senitnel article. I trust them to get it right. They must've failed.

epitome 07-07-2011 10:10 AM

I do know I was completly wrong in another thread but can't find it because its on my phone and a pain.

I said all it would take is one not guilty vote. Then an hour later it randomly popped into my head that it would be a hung jury.

Either way, people have a right to disagree. People can be shocked and outraged, etc.

The justice system did it's job.

Like someone said here, it lets guilty people walk and keeps innocent people out.

stach14 07-07-2011 10:11 AM

and now she begins her career in all the tabloids. Partying and laughing and having her picture taken.

Slambino 07-07-2011 11:34 AM

I still maintain the FBI is going to step in under the federal civil rights law and charge her with murdering that baby.

One can only hope.

Juror #3 has just summed it up in a way that I think a lot of people are thinking, but have not figured out how to communicate it: not guilty does not mean innocent.

Last to see her alive, didn't report her missing for more than 30 days, lied to police, defense pointing fingers at everyone close to Caylee, etc.

Some are saying it's the Mom's testimony about the Internet searches on home computer that was the game changer ... time records says Mom was at work, but Mom says she's free to come and go and ran home for a bit. So at this point, we must believe that the Mom is telling the truth and that its not about losing her granddaughter and not wanting to lose her daughter, too.

Just a big fucked up case that will be hotly debated for decades to come.

In a perfect world they'd wrap her head to toe on duct tape and scoot her ass over to the nearest swap.

Then say, hey we don't know where she is and proceed to go out partying that night :)

They should make her watch this video and hear the words every day and night for
the rest of her miserable life.

campimp 07-07-2011 04:29 PM

it was max 1 year each count for 4 years total, not 16

Spunky 07-07-2011 06:48 PM

If you or I had beat the system that would probably happen. There are other charges the state could seek to take action against her with as well, but I think because she's so high profile now and it has cost the state so much money they will just want to sweep it under the rug.

Slambino 07-08-2011 01:57 AM

Chicago sun Times,
I hope the federal government will step in and try her for violations of civil rights in that she allegedly violated her daughter’s right to live by taking her life.

This type of prosecution typically is used against law enforcement, but I’d like to see it attempted here.

And I’d like to see a civil wrongful death lawsuit brought against Anthony so that she cannot benefit financially from this.

Larry Casey, Forest Glen.

There are also petitions on line, here is one but I'm sure there are others.

http://www.thepetitionsite.com/397/p...casey-anthony/

I'm signing them all so if anyone knows any others please post the link.

The only people who could file that suit would be members of the anthony family, and since they all lied on the stand I can't see them taking action against their daughter. :2 cents:

Slambino 07-09-2011 03:08 AM

Although I appreciate the bump you?re not quoting me properly.
That quote is part of a quote from the Chicago Sun Times I posted in this thread.

Personally I would LOVE to see her tarred and feathered and I mean that literally.

In reference to;

What about the father? Im sure and almost willing to bet at this stage he will come
forward and institute that suit against her. Furthermore if the government would get involved they ?may? be able to institute that suit on the basis of her being an American citizen in addition to charging her criminally. Long shot yes, impossible no.
