his game is fucked, his knee is fucked, his head is fucked - so he'll probably announce he's taking a break of indeterminate time from golf and will come back when he's physically and mentally ready.

one of the greatest falls from grace ever.

No way - Bobby Jones is the greatest player of all time and can't see anyone knocking him out of the way anytime soon....

i'm sure there will be a comeback at some point and that will be big news but the odds of him becoming dominant in golf again are long, he's changing his swing yet again, he has a very bad knee from what I read, he's bulked up and that's not good for a golfer really and most importantly there are new younger guys who are like Tiger was in his 20's. Winning 4 more major championships to tie Jack Nicklaus' record and 5 to break it - doubtful for a guy who will be in his late 30's soon. But that's what will make this a huge deal, Tiger Woods will now be an underdog for the first time in his life and if he can overcome the odds it will be like a movie.

Young or old, he still has a very long career ahead of him and there is no reason he can't "come back." You don't need to be the best in the world to have a great career and be a phenomenal player. Other older guys have been out there hacking it for decades and still do very well.

He needs to take the rest of the year off, maybe even next year, get his mind and body back in the game and then move forward.

Agree.

I thought he would come back as good as ever. And everyone would forgive and forget. I was wrong. :1orglaugh

when your name is Tiger Woods yes you do have to be the best in the world. he was a once in several generations athlete like Babe Ruth, Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretzky. Destined to be the greatest golfer in the history of golf. Not fulfilling that destiny is something very few ever doubted - he was that amazing that young.

I do remember Jack Nicklaus years ago warning people that it gets harder to be that good and win majors as you get older because there are more things in your life like managing your businesses, marriage, children, parents aging/dying that distract you from the single mindedness to become the greatest ever - some people thought it was just Jack being a bit small and bitter as everybody was handing his crown to Tiger. Jack was right.

Bobby Jones played golf at a time where there weren't all that many playing golf - it was only played seriously in the UK and the US, where it was mostly a country club sport. Nothing like the competition Tiger Woods faced from all over the world.

I know Bobby Jones is a legend in golf but Tiger Woods for 10 years was the greatest golfer in history. And even if he doesn't win another major I do think most golf historians will still say he was the greatest golfer ever based on those 10 years.

given his season and lackluster performance , he probably gonna step away from the ball:2 cents:

True, however no one will ever beat Bobby Jones' record. He is a true legend and never went pro because he loved the sport and didn't see it as a cash machine.

he's going to retire im sure. damn time sure go's bye fast :( i remember when he was doing all that practice with his father and people thought it was a joke.

Slappin Fish 07-11-2011 06:55 AM

Maybe not...

Tiger Woods’ agent says the golfer is not making any announcements Monday.

Steinberg told The Associated Press on Monday: "There’s an erroneous report that he’s making an announcement, but he’s not.”

Khesser 07-11-2011 10:50 AM

That's was last weeks news, that he was dropping IMG and moving to a new management company.
