Owls pulled

Tom_PM 07-12-2011 09:52 AM

I never knew owls would slam into glass like some birds.

I had a morning dove connect with my car windshield once trying to cut across in front. Quite the mess.

I guess owls aren't as wise and all seeing as the story books I read as a kid.. Lies.. all lies

Jon Oso 07-12-2011 10:41 AM

My parents old house in Scottsdale had a window that was about 10 feet tall and 30 feet wide (guessing, it was probably much smaller lol) and we used to have birds fly into that all the time. Made a VERY loud noise, sounded like a golfer sliced a ball into the side of the house, and I'd always be the one who had to grab a shovel and flip it over the fence into the desert between our property and the golf course. It was pretty nasty having to clean blood/brains/whatever off the window.

Never seen an owl or hawk or anything big fly into a window though.

Had owls and all sorts of other birds do that here just nothing has ever left such a good ghost image. Some die instantly, most just sit on the ground looking fucked until you deal with them.

BumpUglyz 07-12-2011 12:53 PM

true, very cool impression. Not sure if I would want to wash this away. Great ice breaker, conversation starter

marlboroack 07-12-2011 12:56 PM

mynameisjim 07-12-2011 02:49 PM

Surprised the window didn't break. Those owls can get get pretty big and swoop in pretty fast when chasing something.

Aleksandr 07-12-2011 02:53 PM

Crazy picture!`

thickcash_amo 07-12-2011 02:58 PM

What would an owl leave behind that would create that on the glass? Dirt, dust?

A woman returned to her Cumbrian home to find a near perfect imprint of an owl on her window.

The bird had apparently crashed into the window of Sally Arnold's Kendal home, leaving the bizarre image - complete with eyes, beak and feathers.

Experts said the silhouette was left by the bird's "powder down" - a substance protecting growing feathers.

Mrs Arnold said she could find no sign of the owl, so assumed it had flown off without serious injury.

She said: "Our first concern was for the welfare of what we suspected was an owl and we opened up the window to check if it was still around.

"Fortunately, there was no sign of the bird and we can only assume that it had flown away probably suffering from a headache."

The owl is probably wet, then gave a quick lightning dash to his prey. That leaves a mark like that.

Spunky 07-12-2011 06:25 PM

That's cool,never seen that before

amateurbfs 07-12-2011 07:03 PM

When I was 19 or so and still living at my parents, they lived in the boonies at the time, I was driving home late one night and an owl flew into my car! It was so crazy, like a missile coming at me!
