Bill Warren has spent years searching for shipwrecks, usually in the hope of finding treasure. But his next mission is to locate and raise a much more contemporary object that is bound to place him at the center of controversy: the body of Osama bin Laden.

Warren hopes to depart for the Arabian Sea in 2-3 weeks. He does not have a PR team and his expedition has not been widely publicized, but it has received exposure from some major networks -- including ABC -- in the United States and abroad.

The mission, once it gets started, will stir more emotions and attract a flood of criticism. But as the shipwreck explorer expert reiterrated recently on a Southern California radio show, he wants to raise the body to produce evidence that the former Al Qaeda leader was, in fact, killed and buried at sea by sailors aboard the USS Carl Vinson.

Of course, Warren also acknowledged that he intends to profit from the expedition by various means, including a possible sale of the body to Bin Laden family members.

Oddly enough I was thinking about Osama this morning during my run.

Honestly don't care what happened to him. Not at all. And the odds of him finding the body are slim to none.

First thing, sharks.

Next, smaller fish that would peck at what's left over from the sharks.

After that, whatever makes it to the ocean floor would be promptly eaten by crabs, lobsters and other scavengers.

He was probably chum within minutes of burial. Predators would attack a cigar shaped sinking form regardless of a rubber shroud thinking it was wounded prey.

He sounds like the dumbest motherfucker in history. What does he think? That he'll find what is essentially a spec of dust in an olympic swimming pool? That's if it hasn't already been consumed by thousands of sea creatures.

They don't find people who drown at the beach, swept away by undertow or rip currents, with the coast guard searching for them within hours.

Finding a body, in the middle of the ocean, months later. Lol.

they found a diver in 300ft of water near where i live after 5 years so it is possible, and the currents here are much stronger.

for those thinking it is a very large search grid, it isn't , all it takes is one soldier with a cell phone to figure out exact gps location.

And from what I've read, Osama was well wrapped and put in a bag before being dumped in. There is a good chance he's still down there and could be found.

IF, they dumped a body or anything that LOOKED like a body, They made sure to dump it in an area that is as deep as can be or with as much current as they can to make sure no one could find it..

Most likely had bleeding chunks of beef attached.
