Buying Online From Dell
 

Last week I bought a new laptop from Dell. According to Dell, the laptop is being shipped, and according to Dell should be here Friday. However, they haven't pulled the money out of my account. I paid via Paypal.

Isn't that odd?

Perhaps give paypal a shout? Maybe the money came out and it just was not posted to your account yet. Hopefully its a glitch tho! :)

They probably have not actually shipped it yet. More and more companies are not charging the customer until the actual product is out. It will probably ship out today, then the money will be gone. I would bet by the end of the day you will see it.

Read the thread title as "Buying Online From Deli" - lol... that is all.

I was going to also say that I bet they charge only when it ships. It's a nice thing to make people feel more comfortable and push them over their last mental hurdle to close the sale.

Credit card rules require a merchant ship the product within 7 days of charging the card. It's possible they had not shipped yet.

so if that is a case, you will wait longer for your laptop

Believe it or not I've actually purchased two TV's from Dell. They had the best prices on two tv's I was looking for. They were surprisingly very efficient in their shipment of both of these tv's which shocked me beyond belief as I'm aware of their awful reputation. I had a similar situation as yours. The money didn't come out until the item shipped and it arrived the day or two following my bank showing the money gone. As people have stated, wait until EOD today and take another look.

As others stated, you get charged when it ships, not before.

I have bought 3 dells, and paid with paypal all three times.
The first time i built and ordered I thought the same thing, but its routine for them. I was actually kind of pissed off, because when I ordered my first computer from them, it was the end of the year and I wanted to claim it. They charged me a few days into the new year.

They will pull the money sometime around the time it arrives.

You should probably talk to Dell. I mean, I'd love to help, but I don't work for Dell.

Dell probably doesnt charge until the item is shipped. There are a lot of tech websites that do the same.

The laptop showed up tonight, about 6pm or so. I haven't checked to see if my account has been charged.

I got a Dell Inspiron Duo. My full sized laptop died - my kid broke it - and all I really used it for was while watching TV downstairs and the occasional trip. I thought about getting the iPad, but I sort of like having a keyboard. This costs just as much, has a little flip screen, and works as both a small (very small) laptop or a tablet.

Pretty cool.

I also bought the little charging station too. Neato.

I bought a computer from Dell in Jan and they banged my card three times for a total of 15k and then emailed me to say my order had been declined. got the cash back after 2 weeks of fucking around with accounting. never got an apology or anything just an email after it was all over asking me if I still wanted to buy the box. :Oh crap

that would be. they would catch on. ive had weird charges to my credit card from weeks later when companies to reconciling and its annoying

We buy shit all the time for the office and it's always a clusterfuck. Machines get here with no video cards, screens are wrong size, always something wrong. And from I understand their customer service is shit, new person each time you call and is a run around

I've never had a problem with Dell.

With this computer... I ordered it last Thursday morning. Took less than a week for it to get here. Not bad at all.

I'm on the nu laptop now. Pretty cool really.

I usually hit their outlet, dell.com/outlet and buy whatever it is for 1/2 the current price.

The last time I bought from the Dell Online Store, they didn't take the money out until the package arrived at my house. I kept checking and wondering why they hadn't taken the money yet, same as you. About 3 hours after I got it, they took the money from my acct.
