What Do Ya Think of This Idea?
Flippa is the largest websites and domain name auction marketplace but the don't allow adult websites and domain names to be sold there. I thought you would be a great opportunity to create a flippa for adult websites and domain name.
I put in on a great and short domain name called http://Bow.To - Buy & Sell Adult Websites and Domain Names Auction Marketplace as the title. Anyone think this will take off? http://bow.to |
I wouldn't bet the bank on it :2 cents:
|
@AdultKing,
can you be more specific? I need detail criticism |
Goodluck with it. You need a png logo though to get rid of those ugly white specs :)
|
Totally do-able. Totally worth the programming effort.

Domains: There are a few dealers of great adult domains, then there are free forums for buying and selling domains otherwise. Unless you have great domains, I'm talking about big ticket names then you may only achieve modest usage of the site for buying and selling adult domains. Websites: Trading in websites is even more problematic. Great portfolios seem to be hung on to these days and people with great portfolios or who are buying great portfolios tend to be discreet about it. I recently acquired a bunch of UK fetish properties, neither myself or the seller were telling anyone about it beyond the sellers original expression of interest in selling on a forum. (although people who know will probably know now I have said as much as that here.). You will probably end up with the DP end of the market, buyers who have little money, sellers with lots of crap to sell and the occasional diamond in the rough. To attract the bigger players you need to provide something that existing channels don't offer. |
@AdultKing,
The forum boards don't run auction. http://Bow.To is an auction site like flippa. Makes it easier than getting random little offers on boards. There is even a feature for buyers and sellers to verify their phone number, ownership of the sites/domains, and a rating system for buyers and sellers. Those forum boards do not offer. With those measures in place, only serious buyers and sellers will post listings. I believe there is a market for it. The site is discreet because buyers and sellers don't give out their names. The only thing you will know about the buyers and sellers on http://bow.to is the website/domain name and username (which can be anything). You will not see their names, email address or phone number (I don't collect that stuff). Only way you will know the names of the people selling and buying is when a buyer/seller doing a transaction via escrow after winning an aution (I think that's very discreet) |
It can. You should partner with some big boys.
|
And yes... the logo is indeed, crappy.
|
I was wondering who it was that was sending me spam mail about this site . Did you go around the buy and sell section and send emails to members who have thier email addys posted in the threads ?
Things like this really piss me off and now I wont use the site becuase of the spam mails I got about it |
@camperjohn64,
I don't have the money for that right now. Hopefully I can raise some money through partnership, investors or just by making some money from listings to get it re-design but I now what you mean. |
@PornStarToys, leg4
The dude who designed the logo for me is working on that. Thanks for pointing that out. |
@leg4,
I am looking to partner with some big boys? aren't you one of the big boys? all the real big boys stand up. LOL |
@halfpint,
Sorry bro. I'm a rookie and still working on my relationships with folks..not trying to piss anyone off. Sooo, mentor me on how to better expose this thing. I know you're one of the big boys on here. |
Many buyers and sellers don't even advertise the fact that a transaction is taking place on a property, this is what I was talking about when using the word discreet.
Think about how many times you see things like "Blog network for sale, contact me for details", I'm not even sure how people would list a whole portfolio on the site. It may work for people moving single sites/domains, but most transactions I get involved in seem to be for whole or part portfolios, I am sure I am not alone here. As it stands you have several places already that are quite established for buying and selling adult sites, DP, Namepros, etc. Websitebroker.com has been accepting adult sites but hardly gets any to list ever. You really need a partnership for a site like this. However there is probably already a good commercial reason someone hasn't done this already. By all means have a go and see if you can make something of it, but as I said in my first post in this thread, I wouldn't bet the bank on it. |
The design needs the pro touch but the site seems functional and cool nonetheless. Will definitely need more sites listed and some successful transactions done to get the ball rolling and get yourself established. That's ossible. I would be pleased to see such site and service successing.

there is lot of auction sites, but nobody got flippa attention in adult
|
@Christophe,
Thanks for your advice and word of encouragement. @AdultKing, I am looking for a partner or 2 @seeandsee, The ones I found are just regular craigslist style listing sites..not auctions |
You can probably do alright with it, but the market isn't going to be anywhere near as large as it is on Flippa.
|
The name doesn't matter.
You have to get buyers with money and sellers with decent domains to your site. That's all it's about. |
@JamesGw,
I'll be happy with just 5% of what flippa is getting. @blackmonsters, I'm working on that. Any ideas? |

But I would think that having loads of money would be how. Example : 1. Buy premium names that sell for thousands 2. Use those name to attract buyers as you sell them off 3. A lot of the buyers will hang around and become sellers also. 4. Lurkers seeing these premium names sell for thousand will become sellers. |
Outside verification of numbers would be an added service, just like Flippa, which let's you publish verified Google Analytics reports.
Verified sales/payments with perhaps the top 25-50 adult sponsors? Question is just how to do that without putting your own manual labor into each verification. |
@Adraco,
I am working on those features. Anyone remembers when flippa used to be like crap then got a load of money and come up with all those nice features? that's what I'm hoping. |
anyone else?
|
No more answers? come on folks...help me out.
|
I'm still waiting for more answers/tips

I fucking LOVE IT!!!
P.S. I didn't even read what this thread was about. |
Personally, I don't think there's a big enough of a demand.
Mainstream auctions cover a wide/huge variety of niches. Besides being very aggressive in getting people already selling their websites on GFY, DP, etc to post up on your new site, you should look at getting someone to start pumping out pre-made adult sites/templates/etc that can also be sold. Websites are easy to create - get the volume going by creating and selling sites on there yourself and then spending money/time on a traffic/marketing campaign. |
