7 lbs in 9 days.

I got fed up with not having my six pack. I'm 43, and had a little extra weight around my belly for the last 2 years. July 10'th I just snapped - when none of my nice pants would fit.

I started eating only salad, eggs, fruits and veggies. Breakfast: 1/4 cantaloupe. Lunch: 3 carrots. Dinner: lettuce with celery. Lots of water. I'm not hungry - I just eat more salad and carrots if I'm hungry.

Started doing 15 minute workouts every morning, I even made a website to make a workout plan for me (http://www.verticoolvideos.com/w.php) so I wouldn't even have to think. (I know I work well when I'm told what to do, even if it is me that is telling me what to do)

Add to that my regular hour of ballroom dancing practice every night, and 1 hour cross-fit on the weekends with a former MR USA coach.

Like I said, I just snapped.

So far I've lost 7 lbs in 9 days. I want my six pack back.

xNetworx 07-19-2011 10:23 PM

Unhealthy to drop that much in so little time. Probably mostly water weight. Check back in 3 months. Good luck!

camperjohn64 07-19-2011 10:29 PM

I'm taking pitures every day and drinking lots of water. The main thing is I've cut out all sugar.

xNetworx 07-19-2011 10:30 PM

Oh yeah. Not to be a dick but your meal plan is 100% fucked. Read about nutrition.

Kellie 07-19-2011 10:31 PM

Trying looking into the "Paleo" lifestyle :D It rocks.

you want to cut out REFINED sugar. Natural sugar is OK when needed. You are on a path to damage yourself. Educate yourself on nutrition or your immune system will be toast very soon.

I lost 10lb in one week on a meth bender bout 5 years ago. Its simple... and fun!

Peter Romero 07-19-2011 11:02 PM

Walk 3X-6X a day. Lost 100 pounds walking my dogs. Did a ton of push-ups too and medium weights. Keep up the good work. Anyone can survive a burst, but continue on and see what you're really made of. You can do it!!!

You will have it back! Good luck!!!

camperjohn64 07-19-2011 11:41 PM

For a frame of reference, this is what I used to look like when I was 19. Yeah I know this was a long time ago, but this is why I am sick of not having my 6 pack.

QFT. Cross fit is kinda lame, but if it gets you out from behind your desk, guess it's doing it's job.

Take measurements now, neck, waist (around your belly button), and chest (around your nipples). Those are the 3 main points, but if you want to do your arms, legs, calves, feel free to do so. Weight really doesn't mean much, I can lose 10lbs overnight just by limiting what I drink after noon and training.

i'm well read on nutrition... doesn't seem to be anything missing from that diet.. maybe some nuts or something for extra iron and some good fats...

depends on how many calories he is taking in though. If it's too low he will go into shutdown and the weight will stop coming off.

What a stupid concern ...

Choopa Phil 07-20-2011 06:31 AM

you did not look like that, if you did you wouldnt be eating the way you are. thats a horrible diet, have fun losing your carb and glycogen stores the first 10 days (which it looks like you already have) then enjoy the muscle catabolism that will occur next. i see protein from eggs, carbs from fruit, and NO FAT. What is testosterone made of? Cholesterol, where is the cholesterol, i see NONE except a slight amount in the eggs. Good luck with your diet, if you want you can pay me 100 bux and ill make you a diet, it seems like thats what everyones nutritionist is giving them nowadays.

says the guy who calls BCAA's chemicals...get real you are ignorant on anything nutrition or health related. Cool you ran marathons...lets see what you look like

Cyndalie 07-20-2011 06:33 AM

Best way to burn off the fat while you are losing weight is cardio. 15 mins in the morning isn't enough. do at least 30 mins of high cardio 4-5 times a week. I dropped 10lbs in 3 months and it keeps coming off, and I quit 'dieting' 6 weeks ago. Total of 20lbs lost in the past year. Nothing extreme will last, but workouts will help reset your metabolism.

Choopa Phil 07-20-2011 06:36 AM

30 minutes of fasted cardio 3x a week w/ BCAA's with weight training in the evenings, low GI carbs before workout for energy, High GI carbs after workout for insulin spike, high protein meal, moderate fat post workout meal

cybermike 07-20-2011 06:44 AM

If you have netflix streaming watch sick fat and dying thats an interesting way to lose pounds

JayDeeZee 07-20-2011 06:53 AM

The trick is to sustain it. that should be your goal.

Barry-xlovecam 07-20-2011 06:53 AM

I would add some small amounts of beans and fish to that diet —you need some protein sources — these are low in cholesterol compared to meat sources.

It is amazing how weight drops off when you eat right. I need to get back to more healthy eating right now too.

moderation is just good.

If you want to loose fat.. I think wear a sweat jacket while cardio exercises and add double crunches in your workout.. It really helped me.. cheers !!

wearing a sweat jacket only shed water weight and has no effect on metabolism...the second u take a sip of water your cells absorb the water you just sweat out. being cold actually burns more calories than being hot.

potter 07-20-2011 07:20 AM

You're not going to lose any weight. You're basically starving yourself right now - which doesn't work to lose weight. What will happen very soon (if it hasn't already) is your body will switch to survival mode and begin eating it's own muscle.

Literally since your body is in or going into survival mode, the second you eat normal food again you will gain weight. This is because of your body being in survival mode that anything you now eat which contains calories or nutrition - your body will store. Meaning everything you eat from here on out is pretty much being turned into fat and stored in your body. The exact opposite of loosing weight.

You may think it's neat that you quickly lost a few pounds, but don't hold your breath. In order to keep that weight off, continue loosing it, or not gain it back - you will have to become anorexic. Which from your diet it seems you are on the road to it.

Very sad.

dyna mo 07-20-2011 07:39 AM

i can state from 1st hand experience that it takes longer than 9 days to fuck up the metabolism to the point potter mentions. it's all based on body fat at the time, i went on my psmf diet, which i wrote about here, which is ~1200 cals/day and it took me 2 weeks+ to get to that point, and that was starting with 10% bf. it's even longer if you have more bf- a lot longer. lyle mcdonald even states that if the dieter is obese or close to it, it could take months of ultra low cal dieting to make the shift to muscle degradation. i can tell you this as well, you will look like total shit after a diet like this, don't expect to be impressed with your abs afterwards.

next, coming off an extreme short term program does create a unique set of issues, primarily having the gusto to exercise with enough vigor that the food you eat does not go directly to fat stores. it can be done.

i don't have a problem with super short term dieting such as this, from what i understand, there is little long term risk associated with it. + i find it's a good motivator, the quicker some people see results the more inclined they are to continue.

but nutritionally, these sorts of short term diets leave a lot on the table, i would make sure i am supplementing with micronutrients.

and most importantly, fish oil/omega 3 is absolutely required on a diet like this for several very important reasons.

Well not all, cashews, hard boiled eggs, rice, oatmeal, strawberries, (a tiny bit of ice cream), all sorts of nuts, peaches, bananas, pinapple, ham/cheese omelette, pears, chicken on all salads, pasta, somehing spicy my girlfriend fed me, and some vitamin pills for good measure.

The real deal is that I tried to get rid of most of the crap I was eating, no breads or cereals, and then double my workout schedule.

The 15 minutes in the morning is just extra - I do 1 hour of ballroom dancing at night and it's tough.

When are people gonna learn that starving yourself / eating less doesn't work? Once you´re done with this stupid diet you are going to put all that weight back on.

And properly more, even. You can exercise all you want, its not gonna help.

Choopa Phil 07-20-2011 08:00 AM

diet is 95% of the battle, you can run, and lift all you want, if your diet isnt in order youre not going to change

i guess my body did not learn this because i didn't gain back any fat lost when i did my extreme diet.

Yes, it's completely shocking to lose weight while eating barely any calories for a week. Oh my God!

Salad, carrots, and celery? LOL.

I just started going back to the gym, i've lost 15lbs in bout 2 months but putting on a lot of muscle gains at the same time, muscle memory rocks. I still eat pretty much normal what I use to eat just added more protein to my daily diet.

munki 07-20-2011 09:12 AM

I've been hopping on the bike for a good 10-15 miles each day for about a month now... nothing measurable but I feel a shit ton better just getting out and active from behind the monitor wall...

That's what I'm trying to do. I've been trying to get more protein into my diet (I'm veggie, so that often means carbs and fruits/veg, but very little else), to drink more water and to commit to an hour a day of some kind of workout, be it Zumba, hot yoga, a little Dance Central or a dance class. So far, so good. I've still got a way to go, but I'm getting there and I'm feeling much better in the process.

Choopa Phil 07-20-2011 09:30 AM

4200 cals a day, 3x a week fasted cardio in the morning with BCAA's. staple supplements include protein, creatine, fish oil, multivitamin, and BCAAs. Ive been on Lean Xtreme which is a fat burner and cortisol blocker for about 3 weeks so far. It really helped get rid of the stubborn BF that wouldnt go away on my abs
