EIN or SSN

I'm joining some new affiliate programs for a tubeX project.

Been awhile since I signed up with new programs, have been using the same ones for years and years and been happy with the results..

Are you single/one-man operations in the US using your SSN's or getting an EIN for the signup process?

I already have a DBA and but didn't need an EIN way back when i opened up a bank account for it, it's been that long.

Yeah I know, don't use GFY as a true source for business/financial decisions, but just curious what some of you have been doing with that requirement lately....

NEVER trust anyone with your SSN :2 cents:

years ago someone got a hold of my EIN and found out they tried to apply for credit cards and used my info for their affiliate program with CJ.com. Took 5 minutes to settle with the IRS and it was fixed.

the state of California on the other hand thinks I owe them some $4,700 in unpaid taxes but they just wont give it up. Point being, if it was my SSN I would be fucked

If you have the DBA call the IRS and they will give you a EIN pretty easily, if I remember correctly they will even give it to you over the phone. :pimp

That' what I was thinkin'.....

Many years ago my credit history was pretty piss-poor.
Wasn't worth tryin' to snatch my identity for devious use....

Things are way way better now in all kinda ways....

The EIN route via the IRS website even seems like it's an immediate process and one should be assigned right away.

Cool

Corporation with corporate EIN and if done up properly, not directly traceable to you personally.

Got me an EIN instantly via the IRS website.....
Had to dig up my dba stuff cause it's been so long since I set that up.

No reason to complicate myself with LLCs or Corps. for the time being.
Just me and the cats here

onward.....

Make sure you check your date on dba they expire in 10 years in Texas and you have to go to clerk and refile it.

OMFG.

Is it only IRS nice like that?

You can get your EIN over the internet without even having to talk with them, once you are incorporated. :2 cents:

Uhm you get an EIN so easily, why is this even a question.

If you're a sole, you just enter your SSN and BOOM, you get an EIN instantly.

I have noticed some affiliate programs, even if they ask for tax id / ssn, they only accept ssn because their too stupid to even know what they're asking for.
