You should see the prison they put those convicted for financial crimes in Switzerland. It's far superior.

If there is real justice in the world he'll serve every day of his 21 years and on the day of his release there will be 50-60 pissed off families waiting for him.

but until now Norway had like 30 murders a year in total, Police is not armed usually and they believe that people can change if you don't lock them away like animals. might sound unusual to some people here, but besides one maniac it seemed to work

Well Norway have reputation as best place for criminals so nothing unusual.But it might change due this case.

Their standard is so big, those prisons do look awful, but that's norm for them. I think they live in a city and can take walks and shit.

bottom line is that your freedom is being taken away from you. What is that say about golden cages?

With a few minor issues their approach seems to work.

This is something that I have long agreed with.

People that go into the US system tend to come out even worse and more violent.

People here in the states change when you lock them up like animals...

In my lifetime I have known about 15 people that have been in prison.

Of them only 3 or 4 are normal out of prison. The rest got a lot worse and took on a completely bent idea of the world.

But yet whats the crime rate per capita in Norway compared to the US where the jails are overcrowded and a horrible experience?

I read that it rehabilitates people and they don't have a problem with repeat offenders or people that come out of prison worse criminals than when they went in.

It makes sense if you think about it.

People and animals learn better from positive reinforcement than negative reinforcement don't they?

Norway has one of the lowest crime rates in the world and always on the top of lists of best countries to live in, guess they are doing something right.

what you are talking about are criminals who have been in jail for 5-7 years or less... nobody gets out of jail after 20 years and come out more violent than when they came in...

There is something to be said about how they rehabilitate people though, in most cases in north america it is not happening.
