Can Anders Behring Breivik be declared insane without going to trial?
I heard they are seeing if he's fit for trial. Can the Norwegian authorities declare him insane and keep him locked up for the rest of his life.
This will make his mission to be heard into a joke. just don't let him out. |
no clue about the Norwegian law system .............
You gotta though have a few screws loose to do what he did |
Cold and calculating yes, insane no.

I've always thought a lot of these people, like Timothy Timothy McVeigh and Ted Kaczynski, aren't quite all there. Just because they're insane doesn't mean they can't plan a huge thing like they did. Was Hitler sane or insane? Seems he planned a lot. |

Being a shitty person doesn't make you insane. It just makes you a shitty person.

Not sure how it works in the EU, but in the States you can be declared not guilty by reason of insanity or you can be declared unfit to stand trial. Either can get you remanded indefinitely to a psychiatric facility that's probably as bad or worse than a prison.

rather, they just say "you shouldnt of done that, bad boy, now sit in jail for a few years" instead, that guy should be tortured for the rest of his life :2 cents: |

The thing is, we have a max of 21 years (30 if crimes againt humanity) BUT that doesn't mean you will be free in 21 years. If you are sentenced to 21 you CAN remain in prison for life if you are still a hasard towards society. That sounds very likely in this case. |
