Calling it now... Super Bowl XLVI Champions....

There's

them

now...

the Philadelphia Eagles!

Just signed: Nnamdi Asomugha, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Jason Babin, Vince Young.

With Asomugha, DCR and Asante Samuel, try throwing a pass.

There's also talk of Plaxico Burress wanting to come to Philly, too. This post lock-out offseason has been fucking awesome. I can't wait until the season starts. :thumbsup

dyna mo 07-29-2011 05:09 PM

nope.

baltimore ravens

NaughtyVisions 07-29-2011 06:53 PM

I'm not the only one who thinks this:

Philadelphia's stunning acquisition of cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha makes it the team to beat for the Lombardi Trophy.

:thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup

I just don't see the Eagles winning a championship anytime in the next 5 years. A lot of big names, but we'll see if they can put it together.

Zuzana Designs 07-29-2011 06:56 PM

The Bears, Pats And Eagles all look good to me.

dyna mo 07-29-2011 07:00 PM

1st year quarterback wining the superbowL? whew. that's a lofty goal. the nfl is real deal man.

NaughtyRob 07-29-2011 07:22 PM

Since my Steelers lost the Superbowl its gonna be a sucky season for them. Teams that lose the Superbowl never make the playoffs the next year. :-(

Saints go marching back in 2012!

Although in the AFC i do like the Ravens, we will see....

No way I would bet on a team with Michael Vick as the starting quarterback. Even if he does play up to the level of last season he is bound to get hurt due to his playing style, and do you really want to count on Vince Young to save your season? That is WAY too many headcases on one team...

You got that right. Betting on Vick getting hurt is a better bet than the Eagles going all the way.

OK Zuzana, we've talked sports before...I've got to weigh in on your picks...

First off, I live in Chicago......the Bears??? To their credit they majorly overachieved last year. Now an already old defense is even older, Jay Cutler is still suspect and all they have done to "improve" his options are trading Greg Olsen and add Roy Williams. They will be lucky if they win 9 games IMO.

I'm a Colts fan so of course I hate the Pats, but I can be objective. They will be good as always and their moves have been bold and headline making if nothing else. I could see their pickups ending up anywhere from good to horrible. My gut feeling is their signings reek of desperation that I'm not used to seeing from them. They used to be the team that signed young, unknown players, made them stars and then cut/traded them just before they fell off. Now they are signing the type of players they used to cut.

The Eagles are scary with the addition of Asomugha. If Vick plays like he did most of last year they are right there with the Packers as the favorites to win the NFC.

Being from Chicago, I see no chance in hell of this happening.

First off you took Greg Olsen away, who was pretty damn good at being one of the only ppl culter could throw to. Culter is a joke and why we ever traded Ortan for him is beyond me. Denver feels they got screwed but if you really look at both careers anyone with any real non bias sports knowledge knows ortan is way under rated.

Fact is our offense cannot protect cutler, and when cutler is under presser he fucks up more then not. When cutler is on a drive and looks like he might just pull it out he fucks it up.

In the end our 3rd string qb almost won us the game against green bay. Chicago had a real chance of winning last year and when it came down to making it count, they fucked it up.
Only chance of making things happen is to protect cutler and cutler to become consistent within the next year at most. Our defense is getting old and our star players wont be around much longer.

Its Orton, not Ortan, and he completely sucks, Denver is looking to trade him. The Bears went from a 7-9 team with Orton to a 11-5 team with Cutler and Orton won only 4 games for the Broncos all season. Bet you love Josh McDaniels too.

Get your facts straight you moron. Cutlers first year with chicago they were a 7-9 team while broncos were 8-7 first year with broncos. This last year orton only won 3 games. Ppl like you are why football sucks.

LOL are you completely insane?

Kyle Orton's rookie year 05 he started in 15 games and took the team 10-5. His rookie year, he took Chicago to the playoffs. Measuring Orton's victories, his rookie season was successful. His 15 starts and 10 victories are both rookie records for Bears quarterbacks, and the 10 victories are the third most in the NFL, since 1970. hmmm feeling stupid yet?

Jay Cutler's first year as a starter not a rookie mind you. He took the denver broncos for a whooping 7-9 wins.

Now let us compare the two's last two years.

09 Orton led the Broncos to a surprising 6-0 record to begin the season.Ortans first interception was game 6 against the new england patriots. After his injury he did not perform as well but still did amazing. The broncos had gotten rid of there star receiver and HAD NO RUNNING GAME. Orton threw 21 touchdown passes and 12 interceptions with an 86.8 QB rating.Orton had 3,802 yards 541 passes of which 336 of which were complete. (hmmm, getting yet?)

Jay Cutler took the bears for 7-9 and 27 TD, 26 INT. His 26 interceptions led the league. Culter had 3,666 yards with 555 passes 336 of which were complete.

since i already proving my point ill make this fast because I am sure you are finding it hard to follow.

10. Orton finished the season 3,653 yards 20 touchdowns, nine interceptions. He missed 3 games at the end of the season, and the broncos only won 4 games last year. Only 186 yards was rushing combined Almost every game was extremely high scoring game regardless of the fact that he was sacked 34 times. There was no run game and sure as hell no defense. RUSHING (Plays-Average Yards) 398 - 3.9 531 - 4.7 the broncos only had 398 - 3.9 compared to its opp which had 531 - 4.7 yet the broncos had a passing yards that beat most teams TOTAL PASSING YARDS broncos 4038 opp combined 3780. qb rating 87.5

Cutler, yes the bears went to the playoffs, but how much did he really do? Lets take a look.

With a 11-5 record cutler did 3,274 23 TD and 16 INT. Cutler has a comp of 261 out of 432 attempts with a finished qb rating of 86.3. (side note) in pass yards bears were ranked 28th in the nfl and broncos despit only winning 3 games were 7th. RUSHING (Plays-Average Yards) 414 - 3.9 386 - 3.7.not a huge difference in average yards but when u look at the opp u can see the difference in defense. TOTAL PASSING YARDS 3015 3588.

I am getting sick of writting this and its stupid if anyone thinks cutler is a better. When he has more tools and better around team.

ppl ask me why i care? i care because im a chicago fan that saw many seasons wasted on rex and orton no chance to shine when he proved he has talent.

dyna mo 07-30-2011 03:24 PM

In an offseason full of surprises, here's yet another. The Eagles have agreed to terms on a 5 year, $25 million deal with former Packers DE/DT Cullen Jenkins. Jenkins had been a highly sought after this year by 3-4 teams looking for him to play defensive end. In the Eagles 4-3, the 300 pounder will likely defensive tackle. However, he could also play left defensive end in certain packages, as Howie Roseman says, has that versatility

"Excited to get Cullen in Philadelphia." said Roseman, "Can play both DT and DE for us, great inside 3rd down pass rusher.

Jenkins is a fantastic pass rusher from the inside. He racked up 7 sacks (in 11 games) last year and had 4.5 in 2009. He has 29 total sacks in his career. He's yet another penetrating d-lineman for Jim Washburn to play with.

You can throw all the stats you want, they are meaningless. Like you said Denver had the worst running game in the league so they had no choice but to throw the ball, last year Orton had his highest rating of his career and the Broncos finished 4-12, wow. Not to mention half of those losses were some of the biggest blowouts in Broncos history, teams were giving him the 10 and 15 yard passes which is about as far as he can throw anyway. Orton has the weakest arm in the NFL whereas Cutler has the strongest, even stronger than Elway had.

You would be hard pressed to find an Orton fan in Denver, most people wanted him gone by the end of the first season. The only reason he remained was because he was McDaniels bitch and now that he's gone so goes Orton. 5 years from now Cutler will still be starting in the NFL whereas Orton will be selling shoes. BTW you call me stupid and you still can't spell his damn name right. :1orglaugh

Not a chance. Unlike my Steelers who actually deliver the Eagles and their fans are all talk.

McDabb couln't get it done and Vick as mentioned due to his playing style will more than likely get hurt and who is the backup?

Winners! The five teams which improved the most in free agency

Quote:

1. Philadelphia Eagles.

It's been a pretty thorough domination of free agency by the Eagles. Not only did they surprise everyone by landing the big prize in Nnamdi Asomugha, their top-notch secondary is also now matched by their front four with the signings of Cullen Jenkins and Jason Babin. They also did well with the Kevin Kolb trade, moving their backup quarterback for Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a second-round draft pick. Then they went out and signed Vince Young, who, if he's ready to accept the full Andy Reid treatment, could still turn out to be a better quarterback than Kolb.

:thumbsup
