Is Breaking Bad jumping the shark?

Hopefully I am being too impatient, but a year of anticipation is leading to disappointment. If next week sucks, it may be time to move on.

I don't have a problem with slow episodes, but there at least needs to be some story building. The only storyline building I am seeing is Jesse is going crazy, Marie is going crazy, the brother-in-law is going crazy but might start getting involved again... oh and now they have a car wash.

ottopottomouse 08-01-2011 07:21 AM

Only seen the first two so far but it seems to have lost direction.

CaptainHowdy 08-01-2011 07:23 AM

Such a stupid show can't last that long...

cybermike 08-01-2011 07:23 AM

Its building up to something grand!

seiously the fact that both the main characters are living on borrowed time
and need to figuire out how to take out the main guy controling their lives

Phoenix 08-01-2011 07:34 AM

i think ole walt is going to have to mow down the chicken man

JamesGw 08-01-2011 07:36 AM

I lost interest in it midway through the second season tbh.

Nicky 08-01-2011 07:39 AM

Hopefully It kicks up a couple notches in the coming 3-4 episodes.

amateurbfs 08-01-2011 07:51 AM

The way things are going I could only hope this is the last season.

96ukssob 08-01-2011 07:57 AM

I thought the first season was great, but this one so far is dragging... almost nothing is happening.

it seems that they assumed it would be a two season show and now trying to stretch it out further. in doing so, I think they lost a lot of their audience and probably wont get renewed for another year

Horny Dude 08-01-2011 07:57 AM

Yeah it has been pretty slow this season. I'm going to start to DVR them and watch them two at a time from now on.

I have not watched an episode...what is the theme of the show?

The premiere of this season set a record for the show. So I doubt they are losing viewers, but when you take a year off to film and 3 episodes in have nothing going around the main story well, it's going to fall apart.

1 year off and the reputation that AMC has for production, people were expecting to be dazzled, so far I am just bored.

John-ACWM 08-01-2011 08:19 AM

Although things happened in it, the last episode was really boring indeed, hope it will get better, as it was.

A poor school chemistry teacher finds out he has lung cancer so he decides to use his skills to cook meth to provide for his family when he dies. Things get out of control and soon enough he's killing people and become a common criminal. Great story but this last episode was really boring. I find any episode where they feature the wife too much really sucks.

Look up the definition of Jumping the Shark.

You just wanted to announce that you get bored easily?

Definition for jumping the shark:

Jumping the shark is an idiom, first employed to describe a moment in the evolution of a television show when it begins a decline in quality that is beyond recovery. [ source ]

alias 08-01-2011 09:23 AM

I watched the first episode of this season, kinda sucked. OMG so ruthless, whatever.. .

u-Bob 08-01-2011 09:26 AM

To be honest, I prefer this season over all the others. No Walt going nuts and wasting half an episode hunting down a fly in the lab.... No endless doubts about who's gonna kill the drug dealer in the basement... etc

OK, Jesse is having a hard time dealing with what he did, but at least he keeping a clear head in the lab. The go cart scene was only a couple of seconds while they used to stretch that kind of pseudopsychedelic crap over half an episode in the previous seasons.

1 complaint: Skyler could show some cleavage.

Maybe it's you that's confused?

This is how it begins. It was also a question, asking what others thought. Most seem to agree so far, though I'm sure everyone hopes it is just a slow period.

AmeliaG 08-01-2011 09:58 AM

From a storyline perspective, I find it frustrating that Walt still interfaces with Skylar. This season is not on par with others yet, but I kind of trust the writers to bring it around to something really interesting because they always have in the past.

Shoplifter 08-01-2011 11:18 AM

I'm feeling the suspense building up to a big confrontation between Walter and Hank.

It's a great show....I can't think of anything else worth watching.

Sly 08-08-2011 06:11 AM

Update.

Finally a good episode.

Jowebart 08-08-2011 06:16 AM

I just finished season 1 ... Hope it gets better!

I agree. Best one of this season so far, definitely.

yeah, but still waiting for Skylar to show some cleavage...:winkwink:

PiracyPitbull 08-08-2011 12:16 PM

I've been enjoying all of them, I prefer the slow build that would naturally apply in the real world.

Gale on DVD, now that was classic :)

Coup 08-08-2011 12:22 PM

they jump sharks in every episode

PiracyPitbull 08-08-2011 12:27 PM

twistyneck 08-08-2011 12:29 PM

It seems like it is just spinning its wheels right now but I still like it and I'll give it more time.

I agree. It seems like they are slowly building up to a major confrontation. I also love the transformation of Skylar. She started this whole thing out as the person who was always law abiding and "good." Now this season she is the one that is becoming the criminal mastermind.

I downloaded and watched the first 3 seasons in about a month, and I'd say this season is already shaping up to be better than the last... at least every episode isn't full of the problems between Walt & Skyler.

I personally think Jesse has to go.. Walt wouldn't have the problems he does with Gus if it weren't for Jesse's junkie ass.

For sure, her moral fiber has deteriorated somewhat lol.

I'm curious who will get to him first.

Mike or maybe a slight twist would be Walt.

kane 08-08-2011 01:14 PM

I had read an interview with the guy that developed an runs the show Vince Gilligan and he said he felt like they likely will end the show after next season. If that is true than it would make sense that they are starting to take it in a direction of critical mass. It will be interesting to see how it all works out.

GTS Mark 08-08-2011 04:06 PM

Yeah first episodes of this season aren't exactly stellar. Hopefully it will begin to pickup

amateurbfs 08-08-2011 08:37 PM

I think Hank will discover what Walt does and then find out it pays for his medical bills and keep quiet. Jesse is getting fucked for skimming weight out of the batches and selling it on the side.

makefuckingmoney 08-08-2011 10:39 PM

I think skyler will continue her massive weight gain and eat the remaining cast members

boziffous 08-08-2011 11:18 PM

It's all leading up to a showdown between Walter and Gus. Next season the Cartel is coming for Walter.

I'm thinking Gus does something that in turn makes Mike reconsider his loyalty to his boss.

I know Skylar is a fictional character and sometimes a heart given says given, but that character irritates the heck out of me and I feel like Walt has achieved enough success that he should be at the point where he can do more than just talk back to Skylar a little.

fuzebox 08-09-2011 03:31 PM

It's pretty standard for a good show to get stale after the 3rd season :( This season still has stunning cinematography and amazing acting, but I'm starting to wonder about the writing too...

SleazyDream 08-09-2011 03:32 PM

it always seems to go bigger, so I'm betting they get involved with a cartel now.

cybermike 08-09-2011 03:33 PM

I'm seeing this as the last season with the way that last episode went

Is she pregnant in real life or something? Definitely seems fatter.

Juicy D. Links 08-09-2011 04:39 PM

I wonder if Jesse is gonna get wacked

Theo 08-09-2011 06:50 PM

Its indeed too slow, i told already to their exec Producer

V_RocKs 08-10-2011 01:05 PM

Did hung jump the shark?

marlboroack 08-10-2011 01:16 PM

V_RocKs 08-10-2011 01:17 PM
