The used to be high traffic tgp/mgp sites...

It's amazing to see according to SexTracker Page Ranks how much traffic the sites that used to be huge have lost over the last many months. TheHun is under 900,000 and WorldSex is under 200,000! Those sites used to be the biggest on the web and now they aren't anywhere close to what they used to be.

What I'm puzzled about is why don't they jump on the TUBE bandwagon like everybody else has? Is it due to the fact that they can't stand TUBE sites and hate them with a passion that they don't want to become one? Or is it they don't want to foot the bandwidth bill or give into freeloaders more than they have to now?

How can the possibly be making even a tenth of what they used to make before. They aren't getting the advertising revenues like they used to because they don't have the traffic. I've heard of adapt or die before but what happens if you don't believe in adapting? Is there another way for them to get the traffic levels back without becoming a TUBE site?

The largest TUBE sites out there have only been around for maybe 2 years and they are milking up all the traffic it's just unfuckingreal.

Who else has some thoughts on this?

They made so much money that they just don't care now.

Changing TheHun to a tube site would be desecrating a piece of history.

they already made enough money to get what all the wannabees here can only dream of : prostitutes and cocaine.
.

Let's just get this out of the way...

The Hun gets revenue from pre-paid gallery placements on the top 15 spaces and banners. The rest of the galleries are free placements

Dappz 08-02-2011 05:19 AM

well its means those sites are still making money......

V_RocKs 08-02-2011 01:43 PM

Well...

When you make $1 million one time. You probably fuck up a lot and owe a shitload in unpaid taxes.

When you make it year after year you pay back those taxes, buy some shit outside of your online business that makes you money and stop thinking about the original cash cow as much.

So that is where a lot of them are... They made millions year after year or close to it. They bought shit that makes them money from gold to stocks to real estate. Now they don't think about the cash cow as much because it became a much smaller part of their income before tubes even came about.

I would assume that they do have networks of newer sites before I'd assume that they dont. Not those domains of course, they've got long roots.

Do you know thehun ad prices from 7 years ago and the prices now? They really haven't changed much and they're still sold out.

mountainmiester 08-02-2011 02:46 PM

I see Tubes as today's Peer to Peer networks. Over time, they will fade away as they are a very costly business model that requires significant bandwidth for the return.

With the close margins they see, if their traffic does not convert and if advertisers don't get the impressions they need, over time, many will selectively (by the consumer) fade out.

Market saturation is now at it's peek with little room for new entries. This drives competition that requires Tubes that don't have a solid traffic record, will need to find creative ways to interest their users such as HD video and Mobile, or niche specific content, all of which cost more money on a narrow margin business already.

After that is anyone guess but in the end, free will always get the traffic.

My thought too.

HXMGP 08-02-2011 09:26 PM

I find it crazy how much the large tube sites want for their advertising positions just becuase they have so much traffic. The thing is the traffic quality is very poor actually. PornHub may have 5 million visitors a day or whatever the hell they really have but it's not a quality visitor so even if they buy what you are advertising on the tube site the retention will not be there in the long haul.

I guess it still boils down to quality and not quantity when it comes to traffic volumes. TheHun may only have around 800,000 visitors to his site now when he had 2,000,000+ before but possibly now the traffic is even more quality than before. Perhaps he dumped off the majority of the free loaders and has traffic that is more willing to buy now?

Maybe I'm on to something here. Let's not give a free loading asshole more than he deserves because it will actually cost you more to do that than to not give away the farm and sell to the person that actually has money to spend...

Again, your thoughts???
