I was told it was EU wide.

So not stifling competition is more important than protecting kids?

since when did the EU or UK for that matter get so competitive??

Why is it so bad to have filters for adult content- sexual or violent? I dont see how a payment wall /adult verfiy system is so bad, nor do i see how it will stifle free speech.

Seems insane to fine CBS for Janet Jackson's "wardrobe malfunction" during half time of Super Bowl, but little Johnny can go on his smartphone and pull up 2 girls 1 cup with no repercussion.

Agree with you.

Just need to know if we have to comply in CZ.

Thanks for the link.

I knew I linked to articles from 2006, that's why I was asking here.

Drew came up with some better info, still not sure if it effects CZ and how. Reading the articles now.

Use of a Credit Card does not prove legal age.

Mandating a "payment wall" by statute (law) is a prior restraint of freedom of speech.

This has been adjudicated in the US Courts

Quote:

V. CONCLUSION
In sum, COPA cannot withstand a strict scrutiny,
vagueness, or overbreadth analysis and thus is unconstitutional.
We reach our result both through the application of the law-ofthe-
case doctrine to our determination in ACLU II and on the
basis of our independent analysis of COPA and would reach the
same result on either basis standing alone. For the foregoing
reasons, we will affirm the District Court?s March 22, 2007
order.

No. 07-2539 (2008)

Permanent Injunction sustained ...

http://www.ca3.uscourts.gov/opinarch/072539p.pdf
The Courts in the EU have yet to make a ruling but I think that the result would be similar.

As you may be aware ATVOD (Home) have been appointed by OFCOM to 'police' sites hosting videos based in the UK. British Dollars has been contacted by ATVOD regarding the licensing of our sites. During a telephone call made by them to me the word 'regulate' was constantly used by the them.

We have therefore decided to merge most of the single sites we run fully into the Brit Porn Network with the exception of British Spankers and Brit Porn Pass.

In addition to comply with the licensing and Ofcom's Broadcasting Code we have removed all the hard core trailers on Brit Porn Network. We are also in the process of taking them off all our hosted galleries and free sites and will replace them with photos at a later stage. The galleries themselves will remain up. Hosted Flash Movies will also be withdrawn. The regulations basically state that 'hard core movies' cannot be accessible to those under 18 and must be protected by an age verification system i.e. credit card membership (but not debit cards).

This is obviously and evolving situation and no doubt many other UK sponsors will have to make changes to what they provide their affiliates for marketing.

Interesting times ahead !!

Regards
Chris

Yes, that's what set me off looking for more info. I suspect countries that want to raise taxes and get more control in online will love this.

It's going to shake things up a little bit.

The best idea would be to find an intelligent webmaster based in the Czech Republic. He would keep informed about what was happening in the country.

Yes, that's the best way to go. :)

Can you point me to an intelligent webmaster in the UK or Poland?

Have you had your site(s) assessed yet?

I have already asked a few people. One runs an online company employing 27 people and has well known sites. The other is no fool.

We asked our lawyer and he knew nothing and is looking it up.

Yeah I'm curious how it is going to play out in the rest of the EU.
