NEVER Buy Clear Wire Internet

This has to be the worst service, both in terms of product and customer support I have ever dealt with.

I purchased their 4G device a few months back and would barely work from the start. They told me every excuse to why I could not stream music and videos and it would turn on and off every few minutes. Finally they sent me a new device, but that would never connect to the web.

After going back and forth about a dozen times I just cancel the service. Was told (and I have a confirmation number and noted on my account) the cancellation fee would be waived as well as a restocking fee.

That was in May...

At the end of May I get charged another $65 for service, then again in June and July. Meanwhile I am calling telling them the service is canceled and I need a refund, they apologize and tell me "sorry, you will have the money credited back in 5 business days." Same story every month.

5 days go by, no credit and call again... same story. Luckily my credit card expired in July so I got a new card with a new account number. I get a call from someone at customer service saying they need a new credit card number to process the refund and those fuckers charge me AGAIN :mad:

Been on the phone for well over an hour talking with supervisors and management and they are making it sound like they are NOT willing to refund as I should of called in within 48 hours... fuck that.

Ive read so many complaints about them online, its crazy and many like mine.

If your considering Clear take my advise... DONT! :thumbsup

Sounds like a scam service.

DateDoc 08-08-2011 01:10 PM

They throttle your usage too don't they?

u-Bob 08-08-2011 01:14 PM

yep, they suck, big time.

candyflip 08-08-2011 01:15 PM

WiMax sucks indoors. The signal doesn't penetrate the walls.

SykkBoy 08-08-2011 01:37 PM

Same here
they are the worst ISP I have dealt with in a long time. I'm thinking of biting the bullet and eating the remainder of the contract and heading back to Cox Cable.

Their remote device sucks, their regualr service sucks....all it takes is a partially cloudy day and I feel like I'm back to the AOL dialup days...and their customer support is the worst. They always act like they are doing me a favor by taking my call...

I've been using Verizon's wireless 4G router and am very impressed. the throughput is awesome and I've even been able to do some serious gaming with it in WoW and other places.

I get around 2.5 Mbps with it usually. Sometimes more, rarely less.

They do pretty much suck but as long as you are getting "good connection" with their modem (therin lies the hard part and the problem) they seem to deliver the speed as promised and are up pretty constant but yeah I have heard they dont like to see you go. I have not upgraded to the 4 gig yet tho as I have only 1.5M.

SykkBoy, I was about to get someone else as I also could not get more than one light (1-4 .. 4 lights is max reception) even tho it was in the same place as before and where it would sometimes do well. Mine does well in winter, bad in summer which is typical. This worked and now i have constant 3 lights..

I have the modem supported with string on both sides so it hung level. It was in the best place I could find.

I then just moved the left string over 6-12 inches (experiment), at the same height and same length of string thus making the modem sit a lil cockeyed to the left and the left side of the modem is now about 1 1/2 inches higher than the right.

Anyhow I hit a large sweet spot (for days now) and I have tried everything. Maybe it needs to sit a little kitty wompous.

Good luck as that can really be a pisser. Speeds are literally like 28.8k at one light.

I had a buddy who was an authorized dealer for them. He said they have no contract. And he had to close up shop. I would just do a chargeback with your creditcard and be done with it.

Zyber 08-09-2011 04:47 AM

Chargeback time!

CamTraffic 08-09-2011 04:53 AM

Charge it back
Well, if u are in the UK, you might not be able to.

They fucked up radio not only in the USA, but in other countries too. Why would you even consider using them for something like Internet? Their business model is to give you what they think you want.
