Apparently I captured a rare cloud formation (video + pics)
A few days ago, one of my FB/G+ friends was commenting on a photo I had posted. It was of a newly named formation called the Asperatus. I honestly had no idea if they had a name or not, I just thought they were very cool, and every time I saw them, a tornado or severe thunderstorm would soon follow.
Anyway, I had lots of cool cloud photos from my storm chasing last May, then the cross country drive in July. I put together a short video of some highlights on YouTube All the stills of my favorites can be found on GotBaddog.com A couple samples http://www.gotbaddog.com/wp-content/...ernon_7451.jpg http://www.gotbaddog.com/wp-content/...ndhwy_4013.jpg http://www.gotbaddog.com/wp-content/...uster_4254.jpg http://www.gotbaddog.com/wp-content/...stone_5399.jpg |

Wicked photos man! How long were you out shooting on this particular run?
I'd love to explore the mid west. Some nice people I met travelling through years ago, never had a chance stay a few days and really get a feel for the place. |

As I was approaching Mount Vernon I saw this shaping up and really hoped there was going to be somewhere I could shoot it from. I lucked out. All the warnings said to find shelter away from glass windows, so I scoped the area looking for a place to dive into if need be, but it seemed like every business in the town had huge window fronts. As I shot it I discovered that the storm I had been watching through my viewfinder had actually moved on top of me. What an adrenaline rush it gave. |
You and your camera baddog. :thumbsup

Cool pics :thumbsup

The first pic looks like the apocalypse. :)
